Independent pharmacy in the local community is actively looking for experienced Individual in the Prior authorization field for Complex Medications, this job requires interaction with customers, doctor’s offices and Insurance Co. to help patients obtain the medications and products they need to live healthier lives.

Specialty Pharmacy dealing with Biologic medications, for Rheumatoid arthritis and Hepatitis, Psoriasis and other complex medications that require Prior Authorization. Experience is a must.

Our Prior Authorization personnel is responsible for processing and finalizing Prior Authorization requests within specific time frames and performance guidelines.

Fill out prior authorizations request forms Check formulary alternatives, review tried and failed medications.

Utilize drug references and verify the drug being requested is indicated and approved for the condition.

Document all related information regarding the PA approval or non-approval.

Conform to defined roles & responsibilities and rules of engagement between prior authorization processing and clinical decision making.

Analyze, research, and resolve prior authorization processing issues, including making written or telephone inquiries to obtain information from clients, members, physicians, or pharmacies; obtaining input from supervisor or pharmacist.

Coordinate within client system outbound communication to members, physicians, and pharmacies as required to obtain missing information and manage pended requests.

Document prior authorization related information and status.

Make outbound calls to obtain information and answer questions about prior authorization status.

Protect and maintain confidentiality and privacy of all prior authorization and member information, including following strict protocols for date stamping and storage/security of prior authorization forms and related information.

Qualifications:

At least 1 year of experience in prior authorization field in a specialty Pharmacy.

A successful candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-paced and high-functioning environment in order to meet deadlines. Will have Moderate-to-high level of medication and disease state knowledge, within the scope of pharmacy practice. Is proficient in computer skills and the ability to navigate in a Windows based environment. Has excellent verbal and written communication. Has established interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Possesses strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrate a sense of urgency with assignments. Has the ability to identify and solve practical problems. Has established and maintains positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers and customers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $32.00 per hour

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

Pharmacy Technician Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
DRUG PRIOR AUTHORIZATION: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

Pharmacy Technician Certification (Preferred)
