Full Job Description

Overview
Sonographer / Ultrasound Tech pursuing a travel assignment in Fortuna, California. This ultrasound specialty role is scheduled to start on 08/10/2026 for a weeks-long assignment in a hospital setting with a 5x8-hour day shift. Weekly pay ranges from $2,266 to $2,290 per week, with no guaranteed hours. A 40-hour orientation is included. The position requires a valid California license in ultrasound in hand at submission and ARDMS certification, along with BLS. The role supports a broad ultrasound practice across multiple patient populations and procedures, including potential float within the hospital or affiliated facilities and occasional holiday coverage.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations across abdominal, OB/GYN (including fetal anatomy survey), vascular/duplex, pediatric, breast, thyroid, and transvaginal exams, with Doppler as appropriate.
Conduct ultrasound-guided procedures and biopsies, documenting findings accurately in the patient record.
Operate and optimize ultrasound equipment, maintain image quality, and ensure patient safety and comfort during examinations.
Communicate findings clearly to interpreting physicians and clinical teams; participate in appropriate interdepartmental collaboration.
Maintain clean, organized work areas and adhere to infection control and sterile technique standards.
May be required to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities; participate in call and holiday coverage as scheduled.

Requirements

Active California license in ultrasound (must be in hand at submission)
ARDMS certification; BLS certification (copies required with submission)
Minimum 3 years of ultrasound experience
Epic charting experience preferred (Epic experience noted as preferred/required)
Willingness to float within the hospital or affiliate facilities
Availability for call: couple nights per week and up to 2 weekend calls per schedule; holiday coverage as noted
COVID-19 vaccine not required; flu vaccine status unknown
Orientation and required training modules: 40 hours of orientation; pre-start and annual modules (approximately 16 hours non-billable; >20 hours requires approval)
