Full Job Description

Job Title: Freelance Sports Reporter

Location: On-site at various schools throughout the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles areas.

Purpose: To provide accurate and timely coverage of local high school sports throughout the San Fernando Valley.

Duties: Attend sporting events at various schools, compile stats, interview coaches and key athletes, and provide copy on a tight deadline.

Qualifications: General knowledge of various sports. Ability to read and write in English at an advanced high school level, or above. Journalism or publication experience is desirable, but not required.

Commitment: This is a part-time volunteer position that will report according to the schedule of each assigned sport with articles due day of (articles should be approximately 300 words or more). The current Fall season will see us needing coverage for Football, Flag Football, and Girls Volleyball. Flag Football and Volleyball events begin in the afternoon, with most starting between 3:30pm and 4:00pm, with some evening games as well. Most Football games will be played at 7:00pm

Additional Information: This is currently a volunteer position. As we grow and continue to gain a following, we expect this will turn into a paid position.

Pay: $1.00 per year
