Full Job Description

POSITION: Registered Nurse

ORGANIZATION: THE SURGICAL CENTER for EXCELLENCE

Basic Function:

Responsible for providing therapeutic effective patient/family centered care according to physician order and in compliance with the operating guidelines and philosophy of the Organization, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies and licensure.

Working Relationships:

Position reports directly to the Administrator. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff members.

Internal Relationships:

As a representative of the Organization, all comments, attitudes, actions and behaviors have a direct effect on the Organization’s image and perceptions of quality service. Interactions with patients, families, physicians, referral services, affiliating schools, visitors, volunteers, coworkers, supervisors, vendors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative and professional at all times. This behavior should promote positive relationships and excellent patient care.

Position Requirements:

Licenses or Certificates: Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State (FL). Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course. Current ACLS certification.

Total education, vocational training and experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. . Ambulatory Surgery experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
Ability to set priorities.
Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency on the unit,
Ability to communicate well with patients, family, co-workers, etc.
Utilize specialized nursing knowledge, nursing process and discriminating judgment.
Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.
Recognizes and respects the importance of teamwork.
Respects patient’s right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
Provides a safe, efficient and supportive patient atmosphere.
Assesses physical and emotional needs of patients and implements nursing interventions.
Is cognizant of health care costs.
Maintains accurate records of controlled substances.
Attends staff meetings and in-service programs.
Compliance with administrative, medical and nursing policies and procedures.
Participates in drug and supply inventory counts.
Assists with housekeeping tasks.
Performs all duties assigned by supervisor.
Participates in Quality Assurance/Improvement process including safety, infection prevention and control, patient education, teaching, documentation.
Adherence to guidelines for cleaning/decontamination of the Center, adheres to proper sterilization techniques for instruments, and supplies.
Ensures patient and physician satisfaction and compliance with OSHA standards and risk management process.
Demonstrates competency in performance of job tasks and equipment operations annually as well as on regular basis.
Possesses clinical skills necessary to provide quality care to all patient age populations from pediatric to geriatric patients.
Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor or Administrator.

Environment:

Works indoors in a climate controlled environment. Patient care environment may have potential exposure to unpleasant odors, blood and bodily fluids which may carry infection, to infectious diseases and to chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.

Physical Requirements:

Good visual acuity, accurate color vision. Ability to lift or transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full-range of body movements. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape. Ability to speak and hear well.

Job Types: Part-time, PRN, Permanent

Pay: $36.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
