Full Job Description

Job Title: Floor Captain

Location: Malibu, CA (Open-Air, Casual Upscale Venue)Employment Type: Full-Time - Minimum 4-5 days a week.

Hours of Operation: Tues. thru Fri. 3:00pm -10:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 11:00am - 10:00pm

Position Overview: We are a high-energy, casual upscale restaurant in Malibu seeking an experienced Floor Captain to lead service and maintain an exceptional guest experience—especially during high-volume weekends. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring someone who can oversee the floor with confidence, awareness, and a strong sense of hospitality and has no qualms about helping all departments during service.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and actively manage the dining room during service, ensuring smooth flow in a high-volume environment
Support front-of-house staff in real time, stepping in wherever needed to maintain service standards
Engage with guests consistently, creating a welcoming and attentive atmosphere
Handle guest concerns and high-pressure situations with professionalism, sound judgment, and composure
Maintain strong communication with ownership and leadership, balancing expectations with operational realities
Exercise discretion and awareness when interacting with VIP and high-profile clientele
Anticipate service needs, troubleshoot issues before they escalate, and keep team morale strong

Qualifications:

Restaurant experience, preferably in high-volume or upscale casual environments
Strong leadership presence with the ability to command and support a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to stay calm and decisive in fast-paced, high-pressure service
Strong awareness of guest experience, pacing, and floor dynamics
Server or Bartending experience preferred

What We’re Looking For:

A proactive leader who doesn’t wait to be told what to do
Someone who thrives in busy, high-energy environments—especially weekends
Someone who can read the room, manage personalities, and elevate the guest experience
Professional, polished, and discreet when needed, especially with VIP guests

This is not a back-office role. We’re looking for someone who owns the floor, supports the team, and keeps service running at a high level at all times during peak hours of operation.

Pay: From $27.00 per hour
