CDTi is looking for a Build Technician who will be responsible for making and documenting samples to support Research & Development, Manufacturing, and the launch of new products. The position will require the ability to work closely with customer teams, Research & Development, and Manufacturing to meet product specifications.
This role may require a variable schedule. Shift assignment will be based on business needs and confirmed during the interview process; occasional overtime may be required.
Essential:
- Perform small-scale chemical batching activities (for example, mills, impregnation, and overcoats).
- Apply slurries to sample parts and/or powders.
- Run experiments and measure physical properties of chemical coatings and powder-processing materials.
- Coat substrates and process powders with a variety of chemical compositions and processes.
- Prepare chemical compositions.
- Organize, maintain, and communicate results effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Work under the direction of a Build Supervisor and perform general laboratory synthesis work.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education in Chemistry (1–2 years preferred).
- Practical technical experience with coating and/or a chemical lab (1–2 years preferred).
- Hands-on person in chemical lab environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain respirator certification.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in multi-functional teams is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, and to efficiently conduct multiple projects concurrently.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

- Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Judgment and Decision Making — Ability to consider the relative cost implications and benefits of potential actions and to choose the most appropriate action.

Job Expectations:
Best Practices:
- Verify lot numbers on the batch sheet and physical materials match.
- Follow instructions in the order listed on the batch sheet.
- Ensure that the lot numbers, name, container #, and amount are consistent on the metal container, batch sheet, and metal ticket during the metallization process.
- Ensure that each unit of material is weighed and confirmed prior to use (both raw materials and WIP).
- Weigh each container and note the contents of the container prior to placing it back into inventory.
Chemical Hygiene:
- Always use clean tools or containers when transferring material to avoid cross-contamination.
- Before starting each batch, ensure you have the materials and tools required to avoid placing dirty items in undesignated areas.
- Clean all equipment used after each use (including the hose handle, mixers, drums, table, etc.).
Safety:
- Ensure that proper PPE is worn at all times when performing job duties.
