Full Job Description

Residential Designer / Drafter
Location: Whitewater, WI
Pay: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time

A growing organization in the Whitewater area is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Residential Designer/Drafter to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing residential building concepts to life—from initial design through finalized construction plans.

What You’ll Do:

Create detailed CAD drawings, floor plans, elevations, and construction documents for residential new builds
Develop plans from conceptual designs provided by designers or client consultations
Conduct site visits for additions and remodels to gather accurate field measurements
Present preliminary designs to clients and revise plans based on feedback
Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule
Prepare structural details and construction-ready documentation
Ensure all plans comply with Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code
Collaborate with designers, sales staff, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle

What We’re Looking For:

Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans, specifications, and technical drawings
Strong understanding of residential construction methods and building standards
Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and quality standards
Proficiency in CAD or drafting software (SoftPlan experience is a plus)
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
