Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sous Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. In this pivotal role, you will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, and maintaining a seamless flow of service. Your leadership will inspire culinary excellence, uphold food safety standards, and foster a collaborative environment that motivates staff to deliver memorable dining experiences. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary talents while managing a busy kitchen in a fine dining or catering setting.

Responsibilities

Support the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet high standards of quality and consistency
Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks and food handlers, to ensure efficient teamwork and adherence to safety protocols
Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and portion control to optimize food quality and cost efficiency
Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, controlling waste, and maintaining accurate stock levels
Enforce food safety sanitizing procedures and ensure compliance with health regulations across all kitchen activities
Coordinate catering events and banquet services, ensuring timely execution and exceptional guest satisfaction
Manage shift schedules, monitor labor costs, and support the training of new team members to foster professional growth

Skills

Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in fine dining or catering environments
Proven supervising experience within a fast-paced kitchen setting
Knowledge of dietary requirements and ability to accommodate special dietary needs effectively
Expertise in food production, food handling, and food safety sanitizing procedures
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams as a chef while maintaining high morale
Experience with inventory control, cost management, and menu planning for optimal profitability
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with front-of-house staff and vendors effectively
Ability to manage multiple priorities during busy service hours while maintaining attention to detail
Familiarity with restaurant management practices including shift management and food service operations
