LITIGATION PARALEGAL
Personal Injury | Civil Litigation | Trial Support
About Our Firm
Graham Law is a respected personal injury and wrongful death litigation firm serving clients throughout Ohio, with a focus on Southeastern Ohio. Our practice is built on aggressive advocacy, meticulous preparation, and a genuine commitment to our clients' outcomes. We are looking for a skilled Litigation Paralegal who shares that commitment and is ready to be an integral part of our trial team.
Position Summary
The Litigation Paralegal will work directly alongside the supervising attorney in all phases of personal injury and wrongful death litigation, from initial case intake through trial and post-trial proceedings. This is a substantive, hands-on role and not a clerical position. The right candidate will take ownership of their caseload, anticipate what needs to be done, and execute with precision and professionalism.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Case Management & Organization
- Manage and maintain complete case files from intake through resolution, ensuring all deadlines and critical dates are tracked and met
- Maintain a reliable docketing and calendar system for all litigation deadlines, court dates, statutes of limitations, and discovery cutoffs
- Organize and index all case materials including pleadings, correspondence, medical records, expert reports, and discovery documents
- Maintain organized electronic and physical file systems in accordance with firm protocols
Pre-Litigation & Investigation
- Gather and organize medical records, bills, employment records, insurance documents, and other relevant evidence
- Coordinate with medical providers, experts, investigators, and other third parties
- Prepare demand packages, medical chronologies, and case summaries
- Research and identify applicable insurance policies, coverage limits, and subrogation interests, including Medicare and Medicaid liens
Discovery & Pleadings
- Draft interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and responses thereto for attorney review
- Organize, review, and index discovery productions; identify gaps and flag key documents
- Prepare and track subpoenas for records and depositions
- Assist in deposition preparation including organizing exhibits and summarizing deposition transcripts
- Draft initial versions of motions, briefs, and other litigation documents for attorney review and editing
Trial Preparation & Support
- Compile and organize trial notebooks, exhibit binders, and jury instruction materials
- Prepare and manage trial exhibits including medical illustrations, timelines, and demonstrative aids
- Coordinate trial logistics including witness scheduling, subpoenas, and courtroom technology
- Provide on-site trial support as needed — this role may require courthouse attendance during trial
- Assist with post-trial motions and appellate preparation as directed
Client & Professional Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding case status, document requests, and scheduling — always maintaining professionalism and empathy
- Communicate professionally with opposing counsel's offices, courts, and third-party providers
- Draft and finalize correspondence on behalf of the supervising attorney
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of paralegal experience in litigation, preferably personal injury or civil trial work
- Solid working knowledge of Ohio Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules
- Proficiency in case management software (particularly Filevine), Microsoft Office Suite, and document management platforms
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and incorporate AI-assisted legal tools into daily workflow, including document review, research, and drafting support
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of discretion and commitment to client confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in plaintiff's personal injury, wrongful death, or catastrophic injury litigation
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical record review, and lien resolution (Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA)
- Prior trial experience — including courtroom support during jury trials
- Experience with e-filing in Ohio state courts and federal courts (N.D. Ohio / S.D. Ohio)
- Paralegal certificate, associate's or bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, or equivalent demonstrated experience
What We're Looking For
More than credentials, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and takes genuine pride in their work. You should be the kind of person who identifies a problem before being told about it, proposes a solution, and follows through. Organization is not just a preference here, it is a professional obligation. Cases are won and lost on preparation, and we expect our paralegal to be the backbone of that preparation.
You will be trusted with significant responsibility and treated as a valued professional member of the team. In return, we expect initiative, reliability, and a commitment to our clients.
