Full Job Description

Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist aids with local homeless shelters and helps the clients build recovery capital that can help sustain recovery overtime, including building sober networks; helping achieve stable housing and employment, and teaching them effective problem-solving skills and ways to manage stress. Increases access to care and improve health outcomes in people with substance use disorders. Helps the clients rebuild their lives, damaged by drug use, by helping them to achieve stability in their substance use, mental illness, HIV/HCV, housing, employment, education, social connectivity, and other national outcome measures for substance use. Provides early intervention and re-engagement into treatment for individuals living in the community who are in early relapse for drugs and alcohol and other services. This a Full-Time position the hours are Monday - Tuesday 8:00am - 4:00pm, Wednesday 12:00pm - 8:00pm, And Thursday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm.

· Builds rapport with patients.

· Delivers services in a way to reduce harm.

· Assesses patient’s situation and connect patient to appropriate resource.

· Works with service providers to coordinate care.

· Ensures patients are complying with program guidelines and procedures.

· Assists in patient intakes.

· Assists patients in obtaining needed documents to help them move forward with

their goals (obtain identification, etc.).

· Maintains accurate and timely case notes for each patient (this may be facilitated by

the shelter or shelter and subcontracted SUD provider).

· Assists with answering phone calls and door and ensure all visitors and volunteers

are directed to the appropriate staff.

· Completes all logs and incident reports in a timely manner.

· Provides immediate and professional response to any security/safety emergency or

disturbance within or immediately outside facility.

· May need to outreach with other Homeless Outreach Teams.

· Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

· Preferably Associates Degree, minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.

· The CPRS/HRS must hold current certification from the New Jersey Division of Community

· Affairs.

· Must be fully knowledgeable about “harm reduction”, Camden County’s Syringe Access Program (SAP), and evidenced based SUD treatment.

· Must possess excellent time management skills to plan, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

· Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills is required.

· Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.

· Must have flexibility to work morning and evening hours as needed.

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
