Full Job Description

We are hiring a Sr. Facilities Technician to support the development of a world-class R&D and pilot-production facility. This role is responsible for maintaining facility systems, ensuring equipment uptime, and supporting operational scalability.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining infrastructure, coordinating vendors, and supporting facility and equipment reliability in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly inspections and preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
Act as primary point of contact during shift for building-related issues including HVAC, odors, spills, damage, and emergencies.
Monitor building automation systems (BAS/BMS) to ensure proper system performance and uptime.
Execute work orders in a timely manner using CMMS systems.
Replace lighting, perform minor plumbing repairs, and basic electrical work.
Determine when specialized contractors (e.g., electricians) are required.
Executes daily, monthly, and quarterly facilities & equipment inspections/maintenances.
Acts as a contact while on shift for any building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies, and repairs).
Supervises contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
Supports a fast-paced R&D and pilot production environments focused on scaling operations.
May act as project coordinator for all size projects, including large-scale repair and new facility projects.
Solicits bids and quotes from vendors.
Strong MEP experience/knowledge
Performs maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Carries out work orders in a timely manner via our computer maintenance management system.
Monitors the building automation system to ensure all facilities equipment is running without issues.
Works directly with the EH&S team to ensure a safe workplace, manage fire life safety systems, and hazardous waste programs.
Works with the equipment maintenance team on projects regarding Facility and Manufacturing/R&D.
Supports and develops processes regarding preventative maintenance, team process development, standard operating procedures, and LOTO documentation creation.
Perform any other tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager.

Vendor & Project Coordination

Supervise contractor performance and ensure work meets specifications and safety standards.
Coordinate with vendors and solicit bids/quotes for repairs and projects.
Support and coordinate facility projects, including large-scale repairs and new installations.

Operational Support

Work cross-functionally with equipment maintenance and R&D teams.
Support development of preventative maintenance programs, SOPs, and LOTO documentation.
Partner with EH&S team to ensure compliance with safety programs, fire life safety systems, and hazardous waste handling.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of HVAC, commercial electrical, plumbing, fire life safety systems, and hazardous waste handling.
Experience in facilities maintenance within R&D, lab, or manufacturing environments OR technical degree (2–4 year program).
Project management and vendor coordination experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and facility systems such as CMMS, BMS, BAS, and ALC.
AutoCAD experience preferred but not required.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, bend, stoop, crawl, and reach for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working on ladders up to 20 feet.
Ability to navigate stairs and large facilities.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Schedule Flexibility

This role may require flexible scheduling based on operational and project needs.
