Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Recreation Business Manager to lead the management of our recreational facilities and services. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, coordinate events, supervise staff, and ensure exceptional guest experiences. Your leadership will drive operational excellence while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
Essential Functions

Business & Financial Operations: Develop and manage departmental budgets, track sales performance, control operating costs, build pricing strategies, maximize profitability for amenities (ie: food & beverage operations, ski operations, facility rentals) and control resource allocations to ensure fiscal health.
Staff Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate full-time, seasonal, and volunteer recreational staff.
Operations & Facilities: Operations & Facilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of all recreational spaces and equipment in partnership with the Maintenance Lead.
- Ensure that pools, beaches, courts, and recreational equipment meet all safety standards, that routine and preventive maintenance is completed on schedule, and that daily operations run efficiently.
- Collaborate with the Mountain Manager to confirm ski operations are properly maintained and prepared for seasonal use.
Program & Event Development: Design and schedule engaging recreational activities and holiday events for guests of all ages.
Community Engagement:
- Promote activities through media outreach and coordinate with staff, vendors and outside organizations.
- Model exceptional customer service, handle guest feedback or concerns, and tailor recreation offerings to maximize guest satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, Sports Administration, Business or a related field is preferred. Will consider those with 10+ years of management experience as a replacement for this formal education requirement.
- Candidates should possess previous personnel or operational management experience with 1 to 5 years of experience in recreation, health club operations, or hospitality management and programming experience.
Technical & Specialized Skills
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal communication, multitasking, and budgeting abilities.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work Location: On-site at the Community Center and Ski Lodge (depending on season), with required variable evening/weekend/holiday hours to meet operational requirements.
Stationary Position: Must be able to remain stationary at designated workspace for extended periods of time while working on administrative tasks.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move and safely position objects weighing 30 lbs or less to perform essential duties.
Schedule: Hours and operational focuses change according to the following windows. Extra hours and on-call availability may be required during peak seasons and in case of emergencies. Schedule and focus subject to change based on organizational priorities and needs.
- Winter Peak Season (Christmas week through NH Vacation Week) and Summer Peak Season (Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day): Employee will work on-site approximately 30-45 hours per week, focusing on high-volume execution, over-seeing guest services and experiences, as well maintaining efficiency.
- Spring Shoulder (Mid-March through Late May) and Fall Shoulder (Early September through Early October): Employee will work a reduced schedule of 15–20 hours per week, focusing on upcoming operational planning and events.
