POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This position is responsible for maintaining quality records, document control, traceability documentation, calibration records, inspection documentation, and other administrative processes that support the Quality Department for CNC Machining manufacturing. This is not a traditional administrative position, it is a technical role requiring a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering documentation, and quality standards- within CNC Machining.
Working closely with the Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing teams, this individual will review and interpret customer prints, engineering drawings, specifications, and design requirements to determine the appropriate inspection tools and methods required to verify product features. Success in this role requires the ability to understand technical drawings, manufacturing processes, and inspection requirements while ensuring accurate documentation throughout the production process.
This position aligns closely with manufacturing engineering practices and is ideal for someone with a Manufacturing Engineering degree or an experienced machinist looking to transition into a quality-focused career. Candidates with precision machining experience, the ability to read and interpret engineering prints, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes will be best positioned for success in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Review
- Review work order operations for accuracy and to ensure it meets customer requirements.
- Create redline/manufacturing prints to guide the manufacturing and inspection of complex machined parts
Source Inspection Support
- Support Source Inspection activities, including documentation preparation, review, and submission.
- Assist with the compilation and verification of AS9102 First Article Inspection reports.
Calibration Support
- Maintain calibration schedules and records for inspection and measurement equipment.
- Coordinate calibration activities with internal departments and external service providers.
- Ensure calibration records remain current and compliant with quality system requirements.
Quality Documentation & Record Management
- Maintain and organize quality records in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Support document control processes, including revision management, distribution, retention, and archival of quality documents.
- File and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) forms, reports, and records.
- Ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve document control, record management, and administrative quality processes.
- Support Quality Department initiatives related to process improvement, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with special projects and additional administrative responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical training preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of CNC Mill/Lathe precision machining experience with the desire to step off the floor into a supporting position.
- Understanding of CNC Milling/Lathe operations within a CNC machine shop.
- 2+ years of administrative, quality, manufacturing, or document control experience.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Experience with quality management systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar regulated environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing Engineering degree a bonus.
- Experience as a machinist in precision CNC mill/lathe machining.
- Experience with InspectionXpert, Ground Control, ProShop, ERP systems, or electronic document control systems.
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
- Experience supporting calibration management programs and quality record retention processes.
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician or Inspector.
