Position Summary
With direct supervision, the Accountant I assists more senior accounting professionals to coordinate and administer accounting initiatives at a local level. Day-to-day responsibilities include the application of accounting principles, analysis of information, and preparing financial / cost accounting reports. This role will have no direct reports.
Essential Functions

Completes assigned daily general ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.

Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial data
- Maintains and reconciles accounts payable/receivable ledger accounts, financial statements and reports

Collects and compiles simple financial information and assist senior accountant to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and accounting statements for managers

Answers standard accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations

Complies with all accounting principles and all relevant regulations, laws, and standards

Resolves discrepancies and issues with suppliers, customers, and intercompany business partners promptly

Supports internal and external audit preparation and follow-up activities

Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential

Communicates effectively by phone or email, while maintaining a professional manner

Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
-
Bachelor degree (required), preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field

1+ years of relevant experience
-
Auditing experience a plus; SOX controls a plus

Foundational understanding of accounting principles (GAAP awareness a plus)

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (sorting, formulas, pivot tables a plus)

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures

Good communication skills and willingness to learn
