Position Title: Part-Time Production Floater

Reports To: Production Supervisor / Area Lead / Production Manager

Purpose of Position
The Part-Time Production Floater supports production operations at both Central Coated Products and Sun America as business needs require. This position provides flexible support to production teams by assisting with packaging, material handling, machine support, quality checks, housekeeping, and other trained production duties.
Part-Time Production Floaters will have a consistent schedule and are limited to 28 hours per week. However, flexibility is required to work in various areas of the business as needed. Work assignments may vary by department, production area, shift, or facility based on staffing needs, PTO coverage, call-offs, production schedules, and customer demand.
Attendance and reliability are required and are essential expectations of this role. This position is intended to help support business continuity, production coverage, and customer needs.
Weekend overtime may be required based on production demands and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support
The Part-Time Production Floater may be trained and assigned to assist with duties including, but not limited to:
· Place finished products into boxes according to work orders, packaging specifications, and quality standards.
· Assemble boxes and ensure proper count, orientation, and placement of product.
· Assist with packaging, labeling, palletizing, staging, and product movement.
· Verify order details including product type, size, quantity, labeling, and customer requirements.
· Support production areas such as Packaging, Roll Doc, Interfolder, or other trained departments as needed.
· Assist operators with materials, supplies, packaging, and production flow.
· Help cover PTO, call-offs, planned absences, production needs, and staffing shortages.
· Perform other trained production duties as assigned by management or supervision.
Quality & Traceability
· Inspect finished product and materials for defects, damage, contamination, dirty edges, or other quality concerns.
· Report quality, material, safety, or equipment concerns immediately to the Supervisor, Area Lead, or Production Lead.
· Apply and verify labels, ID tags, markings, and required documentation to support accuracy and traceability.
· Perform quality checks at regular intervals as trained and assigned.
· Ensure finished products are packaged and identified according to company and customer standards.
· Support product traceability by following required documentation and labeling procedures.
Material Handling & Safety
· Stage materials needed for production, including paper, pallets, boxes, wrappers, labels, cores, and other supplies.
· Safely use lift tables, pallet jacks, hoists, or other approved equipment when trained and authorized.
· Use proper lifting techniques and request assistance when handling heavy or awkward materials.
· Never exceed equipment lifting capacities or perform work beyond safe limits.
· Maintain awareness of moving machinery, production equipment, forklifts, pedestrian traffic, and designated safety areas.
· Wear required PPE while on the production floor.
· Follow all company safety policies, food safety standards, GMP expectations, and operational procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
· Accurately complete production paperwork or documentation as trained.
· Record or assist with reporting production information such as quantities, start/stop times, scrap, downtime, and other required information when assigned.
· Enter or review information in company systems when trained and required.
· Communicate production, quality, material, or equipment issues clearly and promptly.
· Follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
Housekeeping & GMP
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
· Follow all housekeeping, hygiene, GMP, food safety, and operational expectations.
· Support daily cleaning, organization, and area readiness.
· Follow work instructions, quality manuals, the Employee Handbook, and all applicable company procedures.
· Assist with continuous improvement efforts to support safety, productivity, quality, and organization.
Teamwork & Flexibility
· Work cooperatively with supervisors, leads, operators, packagers, and other team members.
· Support a respectful, positive, and team-focused work environment.
· Participate in cross-training and perform substitute duties in areas where properly trained.
· Be flexible and willing to support various areas of the business as required by business needs.
· Support either Central Coated Products or Sun America depending on staffing, production, and operational needs.
Schedule & Attendance Expectations
· This is a part-time position limited to 28 hours per week.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may require sustained physical activity throughout the shift.
Employees must be able to:
· Stand and walk for extended periods.
· Perform repetitive hand, wrist, arm, and upper-body motions.
· Bend, reach, twist, stoop, push, pull, and maneuver materials as required.
· Lift, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds repetitively.
· Lift heavier materials only with assistance, proper lifting devices, or team lift when required.
· Work around noise, moving machinery, production equipment, forklifts, and temperature variations.
· Visually inspect materials and finished products.
· Wear required PPE while on the production floor.
· Safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications & Skills
· High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
· Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred but not required.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Ability to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
· Basic math skills preferred.
· Ability to read a tape measure may be required for certain trained assignments.
· Basic computer skills may be required for certain trained assignments.
· Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
· Willingness to learn multiple areas and support changing business needs.
