Company Overview
Barbco, Inc specializes in manufacturing horizontal earth boring machines, providing innovative solutions for underground construction projects. Our commitment to quality and precision drives us to deliver reliable equipment that meets the highest industry standards.
BARBCO is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to help build, lead, and continuously improve the BARBCO Quality Management System — BQMS.
This is a key leadership opportunity for a quality professional who understands the discipline, structure, and best practices of larger manufacturing quality systems, but can apply them in a practical, lean, and nimble way that fits a family-owned manufacturing business.
BARBCO'S goal is to build BQMS — a BARBCO-specific quality system that takes the best parts of enterprise-level quality programs and turns them into a smart, effective, closed-loop system that works for our people, our production floor, our dealers, and our customers.
The Quality Manager will report to the Director of Production and will lead BARBCO’s Quality Control Technicians.
The BQMS Vision
The BARBCO Quality Management System — BQMS will be built around practical execution, clear documentation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
BQMS will focus on:
- Clear inspection standards and quality control processes
- Root cause analysis and corrective action
- Closed-loop communication between production, engineering, dealer support, field service, and leadership
- Recurring issue tracking and prevention
- Field technician reports, dealer feedback, audits, and warranty trends
- CAPA, NMRs, PARs, ECRs, and quality documentation
- Practical SOPs and work instructions
- Quality metrics, reporting, and leadership visibility
- ERP, MRP, and QMS system integration
The goal is not to copy a corporate quality manual. The goal is to build the BARBCO way — structured, disciplined, measurable, and nimble.
Key Responsibilities
Quality System Leadership
- Build, implement, and lead the BARBCO Quality Management System — BQMS.

- Define, write, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, quality forms, inspection standards, and quality procedures.
- Lead regular quality meetings and establish a consistent cadence for reviewing quality issues, corrective actions, field reports, and recurring problems.
Closed-Loop Quality Process
- Lead BARBCO’s closed-loop quality process from issue identification through root cause analysis, corrective action, follow-up, and verification.
- Track and manage recurring issues from production, dealers, OEM support, warranty claims, field service reports, and customer feedback.
- Work with production, engineering, dealer support, and field technicians to ensure issues are documented, reviewed, corrected, and prevented from repeating.
- Help convert field feedback into measurable internal improvements.

- Oversee quality control activities within BARBCO’s manufacturing and machine shop operations.
- Supervise and support Quality Control Technicians.
- Ensure inspections are completed accurately, consistently, and in alignment with drawings, tolerances, and production requirements.

- Work with leadership to ensure quality data becomes visible, usable, and actionable.
Dealer, OEM, and Field Communication
- Serve as a quality liaison between BARBCO, dealers, OEM support, field service, and internal departments.
- Review field technician reports, dealer feedback, warranty trends, and recurring service issues.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The right person for this role will be:
- Hands-on and practical.
- Comfortable working in a small business environment.
