Job Title: Server
Position Overview:
As a Server at the Country Club, you will be responsible for providing high-quality service to members and guests in various dining areas, including the club’s main dining room, lounges, poolside, and event spaces. You will be expected to deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a professional, friendly, and courteous attitude always.
Key Responsibilities:
Below are the general responsibilities and expectations for a Server at UCC; this is not an exhaustive list and should be known that this can expand and include all other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Guest Service:
- Greet and welcome members and guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently
- Provide menu recommendations and answer questions about ingredients, preparation methods, and special dietary requests
- Ensure all guests are satisfied with their meals and experience, addressing any concerns promptly
- Food and Beverage Service:
- Serve food and beverages in a timely manner while ensuring proper presentation
- Ensure the correct order is delivered to the appropriate guest
- Refills drinks, clears empty plates, and maintains a clean dining area
- Wash dishes as needed in support of kitchen staff during busy periods
- Event and Banquet Support:
- Assist with special events, banquets, and private parties hosted by the Country Club
- Set up and break down spaces, ensuring tables, chairs, linens, and decorations are in place
- Serve food and beverages during events, ensuring that service is seamless and efficient
- Teamwork and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with other servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations
- Communicate effectively with guests, ensuring all needs are met
- Report any issues or complaints to the supervisor or manager
- Health, Safety, and Maintenance:
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including setting and resetting tables
- Vacuum carpeted dining areas in between seatings and during slow periods in the restaurant
- Mop floors
- Keep workstations clean and orderly, including silverware, glasses, and condiments
- Ensure trash is emptied and taken to the dumpster at the end of a shift or upon restaurant closure
- Ensure soiled linens are collected and placed in the designated pickup location for linen providers
- Clean and stock restrooms
- Adherence to Club Policies and Procedures:
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation guidelines
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to the country club’s uniform or dress code
- Process payments and handle cash or credit card transactions accurately
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in food service, preferably in a fine dining, hotel, or country club environment.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail pairings
- Basic math skills for handling payments and calculating tips
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be old enough to serve alcohol
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift to 30 lbs
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
- Frequent bending, pushing, pulling, carrying, stretching, and lifting
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Personal Presentation:
o Clean uniform and appropriate pants / skirts as determined by the management staff and season
o Arrive to ready to work with hair pulled back and out of the face
o Minimal and tasteful makeup
o Minimal jewelry

o Hours: The job may require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the club’s events and dining schedule
o Atmosphere: The environment is typically upscale, requiring a high level of professionalism and attention to detail

- Serve food and beverages efficiently while maintaining high standards of presentation and sanitation
- Upsell menu items by recommending specials or popular dishes to maximize sales opportunities
- Manage guest relations by addressing questions, resolving concerns promptly, and ensuring overall satisfaction
- Maintain cleanliness of tables, assist with bussing and resetting tables quickly during busy hours
- Follow all food safety protocols including proper food handling, sanitation practices, and adherence to health regulations
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred; fine dining or nightclub experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS; familiarity with OpenTable for reservations is advantageous
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, energetic demeanor
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting while multitasking seamlessly
- Basic math skills for cash handling, cashiering, and billing accuracy
- Culinary or kitchen experience is beneficial but not required; willingness to learn food preparation basics is appreciated
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and proper food handling techniques
- Prior host/hostess or serving experience that demonstrates guest relations expertise is desirable
