Art Instructor
Reports To Program Director
Employment Status
Part-Time | Hourly or Independent Contractor (1099), as applicable
Position Summary
The Art Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering engaging visual arts instruction that inspires creativity, builds artistic skills, and promotes self-expression in students of all ages. The instructor creates a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment while supporting EN-RICH-MENT's mission to enrich lives through arts education.
The Art Instructor serves as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, patience, respect, and a commitment to student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction
- Plan and teach age-appropriate visual arts classes aligned with program goals.
- Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, styles, and media.
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and artistic confidence.
- Adapt lessons to accommodate different learning styles and skill levels.
- Foster a classroom environment that is respectful, inclusive, and engaging.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom.
- Establish and enforce classroom expectations and behavior standards.
- Supervise students before, during, and after class until they are released in accordance with EN-RICH-MENT procedures.
- Promote teamwork, respect, and positive behavior among students.
Student Development
- Encourage artistic growth and individual expression.
- Provide constructive feedback and recognition of student achievements.
- Support students in preparing artwork for exhibits, showcases, competitions, or community events.
- Build positive relationships with students and families.
Planning and Administration
- Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials in advance.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Notify the Program Director of student concerns, behavioral issues, accidents, or incidents promptly.
- Assist with inventory and proper care of art supplies and equipment.
- Submit requested reports, schedules, and documentation promptly.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training as required.
- Support organization-wide events, showcases, exhibitions, and community outreach activities.
- Represent EN-RICH-MENT professionally at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching visual arts to children, youth, or adults
- Knowledge of drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, and other visual art techniques.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for arts education and youth development.
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and inspire students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
- Stand and move throughout instructional periods.
- Lift and carry art supplies and materials up to 25 pounds.
- Set up and clean instructional areas before and after classes.

Compliance Requirements
Before beginning employment or instruction, instructors must:
- Complete all required background checks.
- Comply with all EN-RICH-MENT policies and procedures.
- Complete required onboarding and orientation.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and organizational matters.
- Report suspected safety concerns or incidents immediately.
