Winkle Industries is a premier provider of engineered material handling solutions, including crane components, above-the-hook and below-the-hook lifting devices, on-the-ground power supply sources, and electrical control systems. We're a single-source supplier focused on quality, performance, and value — and our people are the reason we can deliver on that promise.
We're looking for a Brake Assembler Technician to build, inspect, and test large-scale industrial brake assemblies used in crane and material handling systems. This role is cross-trained in brake relining and will assist with relining work as production need requires. It's a hands-on shop role for someone with strong mechanical aptitude and a good eye for precision work.
- Assemble brake components — calipers, rotors, pads, drums, and related parts — according to specifications and drawings.
- Read and follow written instructions, drawings, and schematics with precision.
- Clean and inspect used brake components, including use of a parts washer.
- Take precision measurements (tape measure, calipers) to verify proper fit and tolerance of components.
- Assemble parts into complete brake units and perform functional tests to verify proper operation.
- Assist with brake relining duties as production needs require — inspecting linings/pads/shoes for wear and installing new components to manufacturer specifications.
- Operate, or train to operate, an overhead crane to lift and position large-scale brake components (training provided).
- May operate an electric pallet jack or stand-up forklift as needed (training and certification provided).
- Follow all safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Required: Ability to accurately read a tape measure and calipers.
- Required: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, and to stand, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Required: Must supply your own hand tools (a list is provided during the interview/offer process).
- Preferred: Vocational, technical, or trade school training in mechanical, automotive, or industrial maintenance. Current students and recent graduates of trade/technical programs are encouraged to apply.
- Preferred: Prior experience as an assembler, mechanic, or brake technician. Prior brake experience is a strong plus.
- Preferred: Prior overhead crane experience, and/or experience operating an electric pallet jack or stand-up forklift.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment involving grease, oil, solvents, noise, and moving equipment.
Employment is contingent on successfully completing a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check.
- Competitive wage, commensurate with experience.
- $2.00 per hour attendance bonus ($3.00 per hour on overtime) — paid for any pay period with perfect attendance.
- Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
- A supportive, team-based work environment.
Winkle Industries is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
