Full Job Description

Position Summary:

LARC, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated individual to provide direct care support and adult training services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate is committed to promoting independence, dignity, community inclusion, and personal growth while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals served.

The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and support individuals in achieving their personal goals. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, implementing individualized service plans, facilitating skill-building and vocational activities, supporting community integration, documenting progress, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Our organization strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. At the present time, we are looking for experienced individuals to fill the Full-Time and Part-Time roles of an ADAPT Instructor.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Develops and helps implement individual consumer programs to include full daily schedule. Provides hands-on training in social communication, activities of daily living, physical ed., health ed., and community skills. Coordinates all supports and services for consumers on case load. Coordinates consumer supports and services, provides training to consumers to insure skill acquisition and safety. Handles behavioral issues as directed by Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED is required, plus one year experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled adults or individuals with special needs. A valid Florida driver’s license, automobile insurance and vehicle registration is required.

Must be able to pass Level 2 Background screening, a local law background screening and a drivers license background screening. For more information on the Level 2 background screening, please visit the Clearinghouse at https://info.flclearinghouse.com.

Part-time position; Scheduled hours will be between Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Full-time position, Scheduled hours will be Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervises and trains client to acquire life skills and recreation skills.
Maintains accurate records of individual’s progress and activities.
Is a primary instructor for facilitating content of assigned program activities and/or LAB curriculum.
Is responsible to plan, coordinate and implement daily activities and provide full daily schedule.
Provides hands-on training and instruction in the ADAPT program and/or LAB classes.
Obtains necessary supplies and equipment needed.
Provides documentation required to monitor and track learning, objectives and outcomes.
Completes required documentation for clients on caseload via electronic platform(s) required such as Therap or iConnect to include data on formal goals, daily notes etc.
Provides ongoing support, guidance and supervision to individuals participating in the ADAPT program and/or LAB activities.
Works with Director of ADT Services, Program Manager and/or LAB Coordinator to develop, modify and implement curriculum for ADAPT program and/or LAB programs.
Assists with coordination and facilitation of ADAPT Classroom and/or LAB programming for training to include: Lab for Living activities (i.e. cooking, laundry, household/independent living skills); Collaboration Lab (i.e. working with community agencies/professionals on and off campus); Wellness Lab (i.e. focus to encourage skills/growth/development toward developing health and overall well-being); and Smart Living Lab (i.e. use of technology to learn, and to interact with the world).
Maintains knowledge of and utilizes relevant technology to support instruction.
Instructs and monitors participants in the use of learning materials and equipment.
Prepares program area as applicable for ADAPT programming and/or LAB activities.
As requested, develops a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
Selects or as requested develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multi-media visual aids, and reference works.
Observes and evaluates participant performance and development. Collects client data as applicable.
Manages participant behavior by implementing basic behavior programming or specificbehavior plan requirements as applicable.
Provides direct and indirect individual assistance to participants if/as needed to include self-care, behavior management etc…as needed within the course of ADT and/or LAB programming.
Works with a variety of population groups and levels of ability to promote inclusion in ADT and/or LAB programming activities.
Encourages and monitors the progress of individual participants and uses information to ADAPT teaching strategies.
Recommends outside resource needs to the Program Manager – ADAPT or Director of ADT Services to include medical, social and emotional.
Develops individual communication programs to improve social communication of consumers.
Provides social interaction opportunities.
Participates in and attends meetings as requested.
Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
Facilitates community activities as requested or assigned.
Drives company vehicle and/or personal vehicle as needed to obtain supplies and/or facilitate community activities.
Works with and as needed provides oversight to volunteers assisting with facilitation of ADAPT services and/or LAB classes.
Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the overall ADT and/or LAB program.
Completes initial and ongoing training as required by Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and LARC, Inc. to comply with regulatory guidelines.
Provides individual assistance to non-ambulatory clients as necessary to include pushing and/or lifting manual wheelchairs, guiding electric wheelchairs if needed, transferring individuals from wheelchair to alternative seating, toilet or changing table.
Assists all individuals with eating to include cutting or pureeing food, providing necessary cues, prompts or supervision as needed and individual feeding to include tube feeding if/as assigned.
Assist individuals with toileting needs throughout the day to include dressing/undressing, cues, prompts or supervision as needed, wiping, assisting with incontinence products, assisting with catheter/catheter bags, transferring to changing table as needed and providing cleaning and care necessary for proper health and safety needs.
Completes daily cleaning tasks to ensure a healthy and safe environment which may include sweeping, mopping, wiping, scrubbing and/or emptying trash and duties assigned on weekly cleaning rotations.
