Physician Liaison (Interventional Radiology Practice) – Job Description & Qualifications
Job Summary
The Physician Liaison will serve as the key bridge between our independent interventional radiology practice and healthcare providers in the community. In this role, you will focus on building and nurturing long-term, collaborative relationships with referring physician practices (distinct from a one-time sales representative role). Your primary goal is to increase patient referrals from providers by promoting our services, ensuring excellent communication, and fostering trust with a wide range of specialties.
You will primarily support our interventional radiology clinic in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, while also driving referral growth for our satellite clinic in Carbondale, Illinois. You will cover a large geographic territory, engaging with providers in primary care, internal medicine, urgent care, urology, orthopedics, endocrinology, podiatry, wound care, OB/GYN, gastroenterology, and more. This position involves extensive travel for in-person visits (mileage reimbursed at the standard federal rate) and coordinating educational outreach events to keep our practice top-of-mind for referral needs.
Our practice specializes in vascular and interventional radiology (VIR) procedures, with a focus on peripheral arterial disease, venous disease, spine fractures, and dialysis access maintenance. Key services include advanced treatments such as prostate artery embolization (PAE), geniculate artery embolization (GAE), uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), vertebral compression fracture interventions, and others. The Physician Liaison will be expected to understand and communicate the benefits of these services to referring providers, coordinating closely with our interventional radiologist to ensure clinical information is conveyed accurately. Ultimately, success in this role will be measured by growth in referred patients – from the current ~20 new patients per month toward a goal of ~60 per month – achieved through strengthened referring provider relationships and outreach initiatives.
