Job Overview

We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning, startup, testing, and validation activities for a variety of facility and infrastructure projects. This role involves both field and office-based responsibilities, ensuring building systems and equipment are installed, tested, and operating in accordance with design intent, applicable codes, and owner requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience commissioning mechanical, plumbing, utility, and building automation systems, with mission critical facility experience considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in both onsite and office-based activities supporting commissioning projects from planning through project closeout.
Lead and perform commissioning activities for new construction, renovation, existing building commissioning, and asset management projects.
Develop and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and test scripts.
Coordinate and oversee equipment startup, system turnover, and functional performance testing.
Conduct QA/QC inspections to verify systems are installed and operating in accordance with design documents and project specifications.
Evaluate mechanical, plumbing, utility infrastructure, and building automation/control systems for operational readiness and performance.
Review construction documents, submittals, sequences of operation, and system documentation.
Identify deficiencies, track corrective actions, and verify resolution through retesting and validation activities.
Collaborate with owners, contractors, design teams, and facility operations personnel to ensure successful project delivery.
Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, issue logs, and final project deliverables.
Support facility operations and maintenance teams through training and turnover activities.
Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and commissioning best practices.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive commissioning experience involving, Utility infrastructure systems, Mechanical and plumbing systems, Building automation systems (BAS) and controls, Building and facility systems/components, Facility operations and maintenance.
Working knowledge of ASHRAE guidelines, NFPA codes and standards, TAB (Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing) processes, and mechanical testing requirements.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and lead commissioning efforts in a field environment.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%, including multi-week field assignments and occasional long-term project deployments.

Preferred Qualifications

Industry-recognized commissioning certification (CCP, CxA, CBCP, BCxP, or similar).
Experience with mission critical facilities, including data centers, critical infrastructure, healthcare, or high-reliability environments.
Experience with commissioning software, building automation systems, and integrated systems testing.
Strong understanding of facility operations, maintenance practices, and lifecycle asset management.
