Full Job Description

Olde Hickory Golf & Country Club is seeking a passionate, motivated, and career-driven Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a chef who is eager to learn, develop their leadership skills, and grow into an Executive Sous Chef role.

We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the desire to build a long-term career in a private club environment. If you're committed to continuous learning and are ready to take the next step in your culinary career, we want to meet you.

Position Summary

The Sous Chef works alongside the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, maintain exceptional food quality, lead and develop the culinary team, and ensure a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen. This position is designed for someone who wants to expand their knowledge of culinary operations, leadership, menu development, food cost management, and banquet execution with the goal of advancing into an Executive Sous Chef position.

Responsibilities

Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations
Lead and supervise line cooks, prep cooks, and dish staff
Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and execution
Train, mentor, and develop kitchen employees
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, and food cost control
Participate in seasonal menu development and weekly specials
Oversee banquet and à la carte service
Learn the administrative and operational responsibilities of kitchen management
Step into leadership roles as needed and prepare for future advancement

Qualifications

2–5 years of culinary leadership experience preferred
Country club, fine dining, hotel, or upscale restaurant experience is a plus
Passion for learning and professional growth
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain)
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
