Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our engine machine shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for machining components such as engine blocks, cylindar heads, drive shafts and general machine work using manual machining techniques. We do automotive, natural gas and diesel engine components. Your expertise operating machining tools will ensure precision and quality in every project. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical knowledge and craftsmanship to produce high-quality parts that meet strict specifications. Responsibilities

Operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, bridgport radio drill, vertical bore machine, block and head surfacer, power hone, rod hone and mig/tig/stick welding machines
Set up machines, including selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures for each job
Use precision measurement instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges and dial indicators
Perform basic math calculations for measurements and tolerances.
Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols; assist with machine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed

Requirements

Proven experience in manual machining operations with a strong understanding of machining tools, including lathes, bridgport radio drill, vertical bore machine, block and head surfacer, power hone, rod hone, mig/tig/stick welding machines and hand tools
Familiarity with CNC lathe or milling machines is a plus.
Proficiency with measurement instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators
Mechanical knowledge of metal machining processes including turning, milling, grinding, drilling, and assembly techniques
Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements and machine setups
Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to interpret complex technical information effectively
Physical ability to stand for extended periods; capable of lifting heavy materials safely; familiarity with power tools and welding
Basic hand tools and machinist tools required
