Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial processes. Your expertise in accounting software, financial concepts, and data entry will contribute to the smooth operation of our financial department. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in corporate and governmental accounting while working within a collaborative environment that values precision and efficiency.

Duties

Perform data entry and maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday.
Reconcile accounts on the general ledger, including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX standards.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor communications.
Prepare journal entries, assist with month-end closing activities, and support account reconciliation efforts.
Support payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation by providing detailed account analysis and supporting documentation.
Contribute to maintaining compliance with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations through meticulous recordkeeping.

Requirements

Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles with familiarity in double-entry bookkeeping principles.
Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.
Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms; experience with Workday or UltiPro is a plus.
Familiarity with SOX compliance procedures and governmental accounting standards (GAAP).
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and attention to detail.
Ability to analyze financial data effectively and perform account analysis confidently.
Strong math skills combined with a solid understanding of financial services concepts such as budgeting and credit analysis.
Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and support audit activities.
