SALARY : $37,384.68 ($17.97/hourly) plus full benefits package
SUMMARY : The purpose of the class is to ensure that the Fleet Management Department has adequate parts, supplies and material to keep the Department operating in an effective, efficient, and productive manner. The incumbent will perform skilled work involving processes, policies, procedures, and Fleet Management Industry Standard Best Management Practices. The position is responsible for procuring, receiving, stocking, issuing, and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts, supplies, and material used in the functions of Fleet Management. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fleet Service Writer and Parts Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing all user departments and individual customers with professional, friendly, concise, and accurate information using Industry Standard Best Management Practices
- Assisting and guiding others, making frequent decisions affecting clientele, coworkers, and vendors of Fleet Management
- Determining items to be ordered
- Requesting and obtaining prices on required items
- Determining lowest bid meeting specifications and making recommendation to the Parts Manager
- Informing the vendor of purchase order numbers and placing orders
- Receiving and inspecting items to ensure accuracy of order, quantities, and quality
- Unloading deliveries using hand trucks, fork lifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as necessary
- Receiving, inventorying, and placing items in their appropriate, designated locations
- Issuing and providing parts, supplies, and material to Fleet personnel as required
- Assisting with various reports and spreadsheets
- Summarizing, tabulating, and formatting data and information in accordance with prescribed mode of operation, policies, procedures, and software requirements
- Assisting with all tasks necessary to prepare for the annual audit
- Interacting and communicating with all Fleet Management personnel, user Departments, individual requesters, and vendors
- Operating a computer and other office equipment
- Assisting Mechanics when needed and directed
- Cleaning and maintain shop and offices as directed
- Performing other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- · High school diploma or General Educational Development Certificate (GED)
- o Preferred - supplementary technical or vocational course work in related field
- · Six months professional work experience in Fleet Management Parts, Inventory Control, or Data Entry
- · An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol screening as directed
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License (Class C) and satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of or ability to learn county and department operations, ordinances, policies, procedures, terminology, codes, radio signals, and/or materials as they relate to assignment
- Knowledge of or ability to learn applicable federal and state, laws, rules, and regulations as they relate to assignment
- Knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar
- Knowledge of mathematical computations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent
- Knowledge of or ability to learn the Douglas County geography and the location of important buildings, areas, and landmarks, and county roads and highways, major residential areas, streets, fire hydrant locations and alarm boxes
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary for the safe operation, maintenance, and handling of all department equipment, tools, machinery, and vehicles as required by assignment
- Knowledge of product inventory; ability to identify parts, locate serial numbers on product, in books, and in catalogues
- Knowledge of modern office practices, methods, and equipment
- Knowledge of specialized software, machinery, materials, terminology, and/or forms essential to the assignment
- Knowledge of State Environmental Protection Division regulations and reporting requirements as they relate to department functions
- Skill in creating, maintaining, and organizing accurate, detailed, and complete records in accordance with standard record-keeping procedures
- Skill in effective inter-personal relations and customer service; excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skill in handling and operating all assigned equipment, tools, and/or vehicles in a safe and proficient manner
