Class A CDL Driver / Industrial Rigger
Company: Industrial Logistics Services (ILS Machinery Moving)
Position: Class A CDL Driver / Industrial Rigger
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
Industrial Logistics Services (ILS Machinery Moving) is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Class A CDL Driver / Industrial Rigger to join our machinery moving and rigging team.
This is a hands-on field position combining commercial truck driving with industrial rigging and machinery moving. The successful candidate will transport machinery, equipment, rigging gear, and related materials to and from job sites while also working alongside our field crews to safely move, load, unload, position, and install industrial equipment.
This position is ideal for a Class A driver who enjoys working in the field and wants to be an active member of the crew—not someone looking for a driving-only position.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles transporting machinery, equipment, forklifts, rigging gear, and other materials.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain vehicles in accordance with DOT and company requirements.
- Safely secure machinery and equipment for transportation using chains, binders, straps, blocking, and other appropriate load-securement methods.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and trailers at customer facilities and job sites.
- Work alongside rigging crews during machinery moving, installation, removal, relocation, and equipment-setting projects.
- Assist with the use of forklifts, machinery skates, jacks, gantries, hoists, chain falls, come-alongs, cribbing, blocking, and other rigging equipment.
- Assist with safely lifting, moving, positioning, and setting machinery and industrial equipment.
- Perform basic rigging duties under the direction of experienced riggers and field supervisors.
- Inspect rigging equipment, trucks, trailers, and tools before use and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized trucks, trailers, tools, and work areas.
- Follow job-site safety procedures, customer requirements, DOT regulations, and ILS safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with foremen, operators, riggers, customers, and other members of the field crew.
- Perform physical field work as required, including lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and working around heavy industrial equipment.
- Travel to customer facilities and project locations as required.
- Work overtime, early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends when project schedules require it.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate commercial trucks and trailers in industrial and construction environments.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe load-securement practices.
- Ability and willingness to perform physical field work in addition to driving.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a rigging crew.
- Strong commitment to workplace and job-site safety.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time.
- Ability to work around heavy machinery and in active industrial environments.
- Ability to pass applicable pre-employment and DOT requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in machinery moving, industrial rigging, heavy hauling, millwright work, construction, crane and rigging operations, or equipment installation.
- Experience transporting oversized, heavy, or specialized machinery and equipment.
- Experience with flatbeds, step decks, lowboys, or other equipment-hauling trailers.
- Experience securing machinery and heavy equipment using chains, binders, straps, blocking, and cribbing.
- Forklift or heavy-equipment operating experience.
- Familiarity with rigging hardware, including shackles, slings, spreader bars, chain falls, hoists, and related equipment.
- OSHA, forklift, rigging, or other relevant safety certifications.
Physical & Work Requirements
This is an active field position. Employees must be able to work safely in warehouses, manufacturing plants, construction sites, and other industrial environments. The position may require standing for extended periods, climbing on and off trucks and trailers, bending, kneeling, working in tight areas, and lifting or carrying tools and rigging equipment.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and other conditions typical of industrial and construction environments.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who takes pride in being a professional driver and a capable member of the field crew. The right candidate understands that machinery moving is a team effort and is willing to get out of the truck, put on their PPE, and help the crew complete the job safely and efficiently.
Rigging experience is preferred, but candidates with strong Class A driving experience, mechanical aptitude, a good work ethic, and a willingness to learn the machinery-moving trade are encouraged to apply.
