Full Job Description

Summary: The Resident Assistant is a member of the personal services staff and is responsible for assisting the resident in all areas of care as assigned by the Administrator.

SHIFTS:

6am-230pm (days off TBD)

2PM-10:30PM Saturday-Wednesday

2PM-10:30PM Wednesday-Sunday

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Adheres to and conveys community's philosophy of maintaining elements of self- care and encouraging independence;

2. Receives report from the previous shift and med attendant;

3. Reads the shift-to-shift reports and shower schedule for information and changes before coming on shift. Documents in the shift-to-shift report book and ADL binder before going off shift;

4. Assists with activities of daily living, environmental orientation, vital signs, simple treatments, and other care;

5. Escorts residents to and from dining room while encouraging residents to find their own way;

6. Assist with serving meals and dining room duties as instructed;

7. Provides laundry and housekeeping services to residents as assigned;

8. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control via proper personal hygiene, wearing of PPE, handling of equipment, soiled linen, bedpans, urinals, and adequate hand washing;

9. Documents care given; adhering to community policies and procedures;

10. Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors;

11. Assists with housekeeping duties as assigned;

12. Reports deficiencies observed in resident apartments clothing/linen and community in general;

13. Immediately reports any suspicious activity, potential or possible abuse/neglect, or theft of a resident and his or her property to management;

14. Observes any changes in resident physical or mental status and communicates to the administrator or resident assistant supervisor;

15. Is thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons and other emergency procedures;

16. Follows community policy and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans;

17. Avoids loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment;

18. Relieves the front desk, providing constant coverage for call and alarm system, as well as clerical and secretarial support as requested;

19. Assures door is alarmed at all times;

20. Assists with resident activity programs as assigned;

21. Wears name tag at all times;

22. Performs other duties as assigned by any member of management.

Job Qualifications:

1. Performs resident care with an awareness of dignity and individuality, with understanding and concern;

2. Maintains acceptable attendance record; notifies supervisor if late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies; follows work schedule;

3. Requires minimal supervision. Is a self-starter;

4. Organizes and utilizes time appropriately; sets priorities and accomplishes assigned tasks;

5. Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action; demonstrates consistently pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach to care required by the community;

6. Keeps resident information confidential; respects resident’s rights, respects privacy and right to self-determination of residents;

7. Performs unpleasant tasks with grace; works cooperatively with supervisors and displays willingness to assist co-workers;

8. Abides by established policies and procedures of community and state. Looks for ways to improve community functioning;

9. Keeps work areas neat and clean; helps maintain appearance of community;

10. Is able to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing;

11. Has ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly;

12. Is free of non-treated communicable disease;

13. Is accurate, dependable, neat and thorough in assigned tasks;

14. Ability and willingness to learn quickly.

Universal Precautions:

Exposure to blood/bodily fluids is likely.

Physical Requirements:

Has ability to do occasional heavy lifting of residents (up to 80 lbs.).

ALL OFFERS CONTINGENT ON PASSING OF BACKGROUND CHECK, T/B SCREEENING, DRUG SCREENING, PHYSCIAL EXAM.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
