Full Job Description

Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN) operates a workforce development and emotional well-being program called “Elevating Families” with the goals of supporting families in achieving self-sufficiency and breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Mobility Mentors work alongside individuals and families using a structured, evidence-based model called EMPath, to guide parent participants toward financial stability. Mobility Mentoring is not traditional case management. Mobility Mentors partner with parent participants to guide them through the process of identifying their strengths and areas for growth and coach them through the creation and attainment of SMART goals using Motivational Interviewing techniques.

The ideal Mobility Mentor is able to complete client eligibility assessments, manage a full caseload in alignment with the EMPath model, make strategic referrals, provide ethical mentoring services that are client-lead, and network with community organizations. In addition, they adhere to grant reporting requirements by tracking and recording client data. Mobility Mentors maintain strong professional boundaries, are proactive, enjoy helping people, are focused on improving community connections, and provide exceptional service to a diverse population.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

Mobility Mentors must successfully complete both the EMPath Mobility Mentoring certification program and CITI Research Compliance training, both of which are provided during the first few weeks of employment.
Once all trainings are successfully completed, Mobility Mentors complete eligibility assessments with potential parent participants to determine goals, barriers, and resource needs, conduct intake meetings and engage them in the EMPath program which includes guiding parent participants through the Bridge to Self-Sufficiency and goal setting and attainment processes developed by EMPath.
Provide ongoing compassionate and coaching services to participants while adhering to ethical standards of service delivery
Actively engage in the recruitment of new parent participants.
Demonstrate professionalism and maintain strong professional boundaries.
Ensure maintenance of accurate, complete, and timely records and reporting.
Monitor and evaluate each participant’s progression throughout their engagement with EMPath as a parent participant.
Participate in continuing education requirements and other appropriate learning opportunities to improve professional competence.
Work as a member of a team and be willing to act in cross-functional roles when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services Field.

Preferred Experience: Minimum of 3 years of direct client service experience

Licenses: Valid Nevada Driver’s License and up-to-date professional license.

Skills: Proficiency in MS Office is required. Ability to learn and maintain prompt reporting in an electronic health records systems. Strong communication and organizational skills. High level of self-awareness and ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations. High level of personal and professional integrity, including ability to protect and maintain confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries. Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, coordinate, track, and complete multiple tasks in fast-paced and changing environment. Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high aptitude for ethical decision-making.

Elevating Families provides services in English and Spanish so candidates who are bilingual are preferred.
