The Domestic Violence Resource Center is a northern Nevada non-profit organization that provides free confidential services in an effort to bring an end to family violence in Washoe County. DV Resource Center provides individuals and families with a step-by-step path to safer and healthier living through individualized service plans as well as the caring support victims need. DVRC is the area’s leading provider of services to those experiencing family violence.
Position Summary:
The Director of Programs is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of survivor-centered programs and services at the Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC). This role oversees program design, trauma-informed organizational practices, partnership development, data and impact measurement, and cross-functional coordination to ensure high-quality, mission-aligned programming that supports survivors and their children. The Director of Programs will play a key role in operationalizing programs within DVRC’s new facility, strengthening long-term survivor resilience, integrating trauma-informed care across the organization, and building systems for measurable impact and accountability. This position collaborates closely with the Executive Director, Director of Client Services, Director of Operations, Program & Services Committee, community partners, and staff across departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Development
- Lead the design, implementation, evaluation, and refinement of DVRC core programs and emerging initiatives.
- Develop intentionally designed programming that supports survivor healing, resilience, safety, and long-term stability.
- Lead the development and launch of a children’s program, including:
o Program framework and curriculum development
o Evaluation measures and baseline/post-program data collection
o Coordination with shelter and residential services
o Staffing recommendations and future program leadership planning
- Lead efforts to define and strengthen DVRC’s mental health programming, including:
o Development of guidelines, policies, and procedures
o Program evaluation and quality improvement
- Identify gaps in survivor services and develop recommendations for enhanced programming
related to:
o Housing stability
o Financial literacy
o Career development
o Legal assistance
o Social justice and long-term healing supports
Evaluation, Data & Impact Measurement
- Develop and implement systems to measure program effectiveness and mission impact.
- Support development of logic models, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting systems.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative program data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with leadership to establish standards for data collection, reporting timelines, and quality assurance.
- Contribute impact data and storytelling insights for annual reports, grant applications, donor communications, and strategic planning.
Community Partnerships & Collaboration
- Inventory, assess, and strengthen existing partnerships and MOUs.
- Develop strategic partnerships that expand survivor access to services and wraparound supports.
- Coordinate with legal, mental health, educational, and social service providers to strengthen referral systems and collaboration.
- Represent DVRC in community coalitions, meetings, and collaborative initiatives.
Leadership & Organizational Collaboration
- Serve as a member of the leadership team and contribute to organizational strategy and culture.
- Present recommendations, reports, and action plans to leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors.
- Assist with advancing trauma-informed care practices across all levels of the organization to ensure programs, procedures, and environments reflect best practices in survivor-centered service models.
- Collaborate closely with program staff to ensure alignment, accountability, and strong service delivery.
- Support staff development, training, and a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory authority over program leads and may provide functional guidance and direction to managers, directors and project teams. Staffing recommendations for new and existing programs are a key responsibility of this role.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a full-time leadership position based in Reno, requiring in-person attendance in the office. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for meetings, trainings, events, or community engagement activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, nonprofit management, public administration, psychology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit programming, social services, domestic violence services, behavioral health, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and evaluating programs.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and survivor-centered practices.
- Experience with strategic planning, partnership development, and cross-sector collaboration.
- Experience using data and evaluation to inform program decisions and demonstrate impact.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability at all times to pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and child abuse and neglect screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience working in domestic violence, shelter, housing, or crisis response settings.
- Experience with logic models, outcomes measurement, and grant-funded programs.
- Knowledge of Nevada social service systems and community resources.
- Supervisory and team leadership experience.
- Spanish proficiency.
Reporting Structure
The Director of Programs reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the Director of Client Services and other members of the leadership team.
Physical Requirements
This position operates in a professional office and shelter environment. Physical demands include prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, occasional standing and walking, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Background Check and Screening
Employment in this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting through the Nevada Department of Public Safety, and child abuse and neglect screening (CANS) through the Statewide Central Registry. Continued employment is subject to periodic re-screening as required by applicable law.
Mandatory Reporter Obligations
As an employee of DVRC, the Director of Programs is a mandatory reporter under Nevada law and is required to report known or suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.

Pay: $74,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
