Full Job Description

OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN – Manager, Dry Eye Center

Watson Dry Eye Center – Raleigh, NC
Full-time | Monday–Thursday (no evenings or weekends)

Watson Dry Eye Center is seeking an experienced ophthalmic professional to serve as our Clinic Manager. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys both direct patient care and the operational responsibilities of keeping a specialty practice organized, efficient, and patient-focused.

Our practice provides highly personalized care for patients with dry eye disease and related ocular surface conditions. The ideal candidate will be a confident clinical leader who can support Dr. Watson, manage daily clinic flow, and step readily into patient care whenever needed.

Key Responsibilities

· Coordinate daily clinic operations, patient flow, scheduling, and room readiness.

· Perform ophthalmic workups, including patient histories, visual acuities, diagnostic testing, and accurate EHR documentation and scribing.

· Assist with specialized dry-eye evaluations, in-office treatments, advanced procedures, and aesthetic services.

· Operate and help maintain specialized diagnostic and treatment equipment.

· Provide clear patient education regarding testing, treatment recommendations, procedures, and follow-up care.

· Monitor schedules and workflow to promote an efficient, calm, and attentive patient experience.

· Identify and resolve day-to-day concerns involving patients, equipment, or clinic operations.

· Maintain high standards for documentation, patient privacy, safety, professionalism, and customer service.

· Communicate regularly with Dr. Watson regarding clinic performance, staffing needs, and operational priorities.

Required Qualifications

· At least three years of clinical experience in an ophthalmology or optometry practice.

· Strong working knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical testing, patient workups, and EHR documentation.

· Demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and maintain patient flow in a busy clinical setting.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

· A professional, patient-centered demeanor and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

· Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or comparable certification.

· Experience with dry-eye diagnostics, specialized treatment equipment, in-office procedures, scribing, billing, or coding.
