Rodriguez CPA PLLC is a fast-growing CPA firm specializing in Client Advisory Services (CAS) for construction and trade businesses. We go beyond bookkeeping — we provide financial clarity, job costing insight, and proactive advisory to help our clients grow.

We're seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Senior Accountant who thrives in a client-facing environment and wants to grow into a Client Accounting Manager / advisory role.

NO CPA REQUIRED. We hire for capability, not credentials. If you can close a set of books cleanly and explain them to a business owner, we want to talk — regardless of whether you hold a license.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant is a key member of our CAS team and serves as the primary point of contact for assigned clients. This role owns the full accounting cycle, delivers accurate financials, and supports clients with insights that drive better business decisions.

This is not a back-office role. You'll work directly with business owners, not just their numbers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Accounting & Month-End Close

- Own the month-end close process for multiple clients, start to finish

- Maintain general ledger accuracy and proper classification of transactions

- Reconcile cash, AP, and AR accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies

- Prepare accruals, prepaids, deposits, fixed assets, depreciation, amortization, and payroll liabilities

- Work confidently in both cash and accrual basis

- Handle multi-entity accounting and inter-company transactions

- Manage day-to-day client work within the agreed scope, and flag out-of-scope requests before completing them

Financial Reporting

- Deliver accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)

- Analyze trends and performance to identify issues and opportunities, not just report numbers

- Prepare supporting work papers for monthly, quarterly, and annual close

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analytics

- Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts

- Monitor budget-to-actual variances and recommend improvements

- Support dashboard and KPI frameworks for client metrics

Client Communication

- Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, in both English and Spanish

- Provide accounting guidance, answer questions, and escalate high-risk issues with full context

- Understand payroll returns and the confidentiality requirements around payroll data

Construction Industry Focus

- Apply job costing principles and support project profitability reporting

- Work hands-on with construction and trades clients on the financial issues specific to their industry

Technology & Ways of Working

- Advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)

- QuickBooks Online; exposure to QuickBooks Desktop, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct a plus

- Comfort with Bill.com, Gusto, ADP, or similar AP/payroll systems

- Comfortable using AI tools in daily work, and curious about where they help

- Willingness to learn industry-specific sub-systems and assist with software conversions

We're a firm that questions its own processes. If you're doing something manually for the fourth time, we want you to stop and ask whether it should be automated — and then go build it.

We use AI tools daily and expect you to as well. Not as a gimmick, but as leverage: drafting client communications, summarizing documents, catching anomalies, cutting the busywork so you can spend your time on the parts of the job that actually require judgment.

What we're looking for:

- You think about why a process exists, not just how to complete it

- You're not afraid to try a new tool, and not precious about abandoning one that isn't working

- You'd rather spend two hours building something that saves twenty than repeat the twenty

- You bring ideas about how the firm should operate, not just how to finish your assigned work

Work smarter, not harder, isn't a slogan here. It's how we're able to stay small, serve clients well, and pay above market.

WHAT YOU BRING

Required

- Must be located in the United States and legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

- Fluent bilingual English/Spanish — able to explain financial concepts clearly in both

- 4+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including at least 2 years owning month-end close from start to finish — not assisting with it

- Proven ability to produce financial statements from a raw or messy set of books

- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (or the ability to demonstrate transferable system skills)

- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience

Strong Plus

- Experience in public accounting, a CAS practice, or a bookkeeping firm managing multiple clients

- Construction, trades, or job costing experience

- Experience with Bill.com, Gusto, ADP, or similar systems

- Foreign accounting credentials or coursework — we value international experience

- CPA, CPA candidate, EA, or foreign equivalent (Contador Público) — not required, but valued

HOW WE EVALUATE

We use a short, paid skills assessment as part of our process. You'll work through a real set of books, identify what's wrong, and summarize it the way you would for a client. We care more about how you handle that than what's on your resume.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

- Month-end close completed accurately and on time, every time

- Clients feel confident and supported, not just handed a report

- Financial statements are understood by the client, not just delivered

- Issues are caught early and communicated clearly, before they become problems

- You've automated or improved at least one process that was slowing the team down

COMPENSATION & GROWTH

- $75,000 – $90,000+ base salary, commensurate with experience

- Clear growth path toward Client Accounting Manager / Advisory role

- Firm-funded Enrolled Agent (EA) track — we pay for the review course and exam fees and provide study time during work hours

- Hybrid schedule, Raleigh preferred; remote considered for the right candidate
