Full Job Description

Join Our Team as our Finance Manager

Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear is seeking a Finance Manager to execute and manage all departmental operations and key accounting functions, including supervision of accounting staff and department operations; compiling financial statements; implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting; and managing fund accounting and cost-reimbursable grant revenue. This position ensures strict compliance with federal, state, and private regulations and works under the direction of the CFO to ensure the overall internal control environment of the organization.

What You'll Do

Under direct guidance of the Chief Financial Officer the Finance Manager is responsible for:

Grant Management & Compliance (Core Focus)

Reimbursement Billing: Manage the monthly and quarterly cost-reimbursement process for all government and private grants.
Compliance Oversight: Ensure strict adherence to funding source restrictions and general GAAP standards.
Burn Rate Optimization: Monitor grant spending allocations. Partner with Program Directors to prevent under-spending or unallowable cost overruns.

Financial Operations & Reporting

Month-End Close: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes, ensuring accurate allocation of personnel and shared costs.
Monthly Reconciliations: Reconcile and report monthly on all general ledger accounts.
Cash Flow Management: Model and monitor cash flow monthly to mitigate the timing lags inherent in cost-reimbursable revenue structures.
Financial Reporting: Prepare clear, concise monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and narrative reports for the CFO and Executive Director.

Audit, Budgeting & Internal Controls

Audit Readiness: Serve as a liaison for the annual financial audit and the 990 filing. Prepare all required schedules and worksheets.
Internal Controls: Maintain and execute robust internal control policies to safeguard assets and ensure clear separation of duties.
Organizational Budgeting: Support new business and grant opportunities by assisting program staff with creating budgets for new business proposals.

Supervise assigned Accounting staff

Experience and Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
Minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Understanding of applicable laws and regulations including federal regulation on taxes and reporting
Understanding of non-profit and grant accounting
Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting
Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions across multiple funding streams
Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and in general and advanced Excel skills
Supervisory experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in accounting software
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Valid NC Driver License and auto insurance
Must have received or be willing to receive the influenza vaccination by date of hire (during flu season) to be considered. Proof of vaccination is required.
