Position Description:
The Lead Painter is responsible for ensuring the quality of the Paint department and keeping up with production needs, and ensuring orders are shipped on time according to the production schedule. Communication is key to this position and working cross functionally with other departments to ensure material is flowing in and out of the department. General work hours are 6:30 am – 3 pm, Monday – Friday, occasional overtime and weekend shifts required.
Essential Job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Paint parts on either the powder coat line or in the wet paint booth to supply parts to fill production orders. Also, able to organize the area and move parts to the correct area of the plant.
- Ability to work within the weekly production calendar to maintain shipping deadlines for the week.
- Must have the ability to organize department needs and clearly communicate with opposing leaders to receive parts required to complete work orders on time.
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day activities of the department to ensure compliance, maintenance, operations, cleaning, and efficiency of the department to maintain and complete the daily department requirements. Including approving time off for the departmental team while ensuring coverage.
- Develop, train and direct employees in all aspects of the job, including a maintenance plan for all department equipment to always keep equipment in operating condition.
- Maintain adequate inventory of paint and other consumables needed to complete painting tasks.
- Ability to identify parts needed to complete work orders and communicate needs with the appropriate groups to keep production on time.
- Perform quality inspection and ensure quality of welded products across the department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Develop trains, and directs employees in all aspects of the job, including a maintenance plan for all department equipment to always keep equipment in operating condition.

- Ensure all employees in the department are wearing all required PPE during shift.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 or more years of experience with paint line systems, outer coating, and wet paint applications.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Must be able to drive and operate a forklift.
- Capable of functioning well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
Physical Requirements
This position involves significant manual labor and requires the ability to perform the following physical activities:
- Bending, Standing, and Stooping: Regularly engage in bending, standing, and stooping for extended periods.
- Climbing: Ability to climb ladders or stairs and work at height for extended periods of time.
- Tool Usage: Proficient use of both small and large manual and power tools.
- Lifting: Capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Hearing: Industrial setting where noise levels can vary greatly.
- Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and focus adjustment
Candidates should be prepared to work in a physically demanding environment and possess the stamina and strength necessary to perform these tasks safely and effectively.
