WHAT WILL YOU DO
Job Summary: Supports the Environmental, Health & Safety program compliance, records, SOP, and other initiatives for achieving established targets within the Cayey site.
Duties and Responsibilities: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company)
- Coordinates audits and inspections on safety and other related ITG-OHS&E policies and programs.
- Assists and participate on Safety Committee activities.
- Maintains records of all OHS&E-ITG required activities and programs and maintains of records required by regulatory agencies as permits and logs.
- Provides basic OHS&E program, procedure and work instruction, coordinates or provides employee training, contractor inductions and orientation and/or report results on surveys on industrial hygiene programs.
- Support and assists the Near-Miss program informing on day-to-day status.
- Acts as the custodian of OHS&E documentation, regulatory permits, OHS&E certifications, and documentation including computerized programs.
- Assists in typing, editing, indexing, and revising a variety of documents, and implementation of OHS&E procedures, work instructions, policies, programs, and manuals related to OHS activities, regulations, and compliance.
- Enters monthly OHS&E data into Imperial Tobacco’s Non-Financial Reporting (NFR) computerized system. Replies to NFR’s surveys and requested information.
- Communicates within the department on a wide variety of OHS&E issues and coordinates training, group, and meeting events.
- Assists in conducting accident investigations and root cause analysis.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education and Experience:
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, or similar
- Good understanding and knowledge of US OSHA 29 CFR 1910 regulations, guidelines, and programs for Health & Safety
- Preferable, OSHA 30 HRS General Industry Certification
Language Skills:
- Fully bilingual (Spanish and English).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and suppliers.
Math Skills:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Computer literate and knowledge of Internet and Business applications such as Microsoft office.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Planning/organizational skills to consistently, effectively and timely comply with business goals, plans, processes, practices-within due dates.
- Problem solving skills to solve complex and practical problems.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Willingness to lead, motivate, offer suggestions and guidance to address risk taking opportunities and business challenges.
- Knowledge of strategic/business planning, leadership, resource allocation, production processes and people management
