Full Job Description

Chief Financial Officer

Company: Outdoor Retail & Services Company
Location: Utah — Onsite
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $150,000+ annually, commensurate with experience

Position Overview

A growing outdoor retail and services company is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. The CFO will be responsible for the overall financial strategy, performance, controls, and financial health of the organization.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership while overseeing accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, cash-flow management, financial reporting, and risk management.

The ideal candidate combines strong financial and accounting expertise with a practical, entrepreneurial approach to business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the company's overall financial strategy, planning, and performance management.
Oversee accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
Develop and maintain cash-flow forecasts and working-capital strategies.
Evaluate investments, new business opportunities, and other strategic initiatives.
Maintain appropriate internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Manage banking, lending, insurance, audit, tax, and other external financial relationships.
Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support major business decisions.
Identify financial and operational risks and recommend appropriate actions.
Improve financial systems, processes, reporting, and controls as the organization grows.
Lead, develop, and provide direction to the accounting and finance team.

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Significant progressive experience in finance and accounting leadership.
Strong understanding of financial statements, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and internal controls.
Experience managing or overseeing accounting and finance functions.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.

Preferred

CPA and/or MBA.
Previous CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or comparable senior financial leadership experience.
Experience with multi-entity organizations.
Experience within retail, consumer products, outdoor recreation, professional services, or another operationally complex business.
Experience supporting a privately held, founder-led, or high-growth organization.
Experience with banking relationships, financing, capital allocation, and strategic transactions.
