Full Job Description

Description

Minimally supervised, performs clerical and administrative duties of considerable difficulty; compiles data and operates computer and computerized systems in performance of routine clerical duties to maintain business records and reports by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties

Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned tasks.
Types business correspondence from oral and written communication.
Processes payments, maintains and balances cash drawer.
Calculates and collects fees when transferring ownership of motor vehicle titles, add/release liens, vehicle registration renewals and property tax collections.
Reviews work of others to ensure proper format, correctness and completeness when imaging title documents.
Provides general information to the general public in the work place or over the telephone.
Operates various computer software programs to process, record, and maintain real estate records, motor vehicle titles and registrations and other legal documents.
Collects revenues on behalf of Clerk of Courts, Department of Revenue and County parking tickets
Assists the general public with questions and researching real estate records.
Determines what is confidential or public record in the motor vehicle department for general public inquires.
Tracks and files claims on bankruptcies.
Works with tax sales: registering, calculating, tracking and notification.
Generates and maintains mobile home park reports, mobile home taxes, clearances and transfers.
Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Supervision is received from Department Head or other designated official.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

No functional or administrative supervision is exercised over support staff.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
At least one year previous experience providing customer service to the general public.
Excellent communication skills are required in order to provide effective service to the general public. Must be able to listen, interpret and relay information so that individuals are able to understand.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, bookkeeping procedures and general office procedures.
Must be detail-oriented and display a high level of accuracy.
Must be able to produce professionally written letters and emails.
Excellent math skills.
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to research and use the Code of Iowa.
Ability to accurately handle substantial amounts of money.
Ability to follow detailed procedures.
Ability to accurately operate a 10 key adding machine.
Accurate and quick keyboarding skills.
Ability to make minor administrative decisions in the absence of stated policies and procedures.
