Accounting Manager 10744
Position Overview
A well-established college-preparatory private school in North Dallas is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its collaborative Business Office. This high-impact role offers ownership of the month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts receivable functions while working closely with leadership in a stable, team-oriented environment. It's an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, and contributing to an organization with a strong sense of community.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Prepare monthly management reports and analyze budget-to-actual variances
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure strong internal controls

Accounts Receivable & Tuition Management

Oversee tuition billing, collections, and account reconciliations
Partner with internal departments to ensure accurate account setup and billing adjustments
Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collection efforts
Record fundraising and development-related accounting entries

Accounting Operations

Review payroll and accounts payable reporting for accurate general ledger posting
Assist with year-end audits, tax reporting, and financial compliance
Support process improvements, reporting enhancements, and ongoing accounting initiatives
Maintain organized financial records and documentation

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
4+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
Solid understanding of general ledger and accounts receivable accounting
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate professionally with a variety of stakeholders

Preferred

Experience in education or nonprofit accounting
Familiarity with tuition management or student information systems
Familiarity with Blackbaud (or the ability to learn quickly)
