Job Summary

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Biller/Coder and play a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient billing and coding processes. In this position, you will be responsible for translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes, managing insurance claims, and maintaining precise medical records. Your expertise will directly impact the revenue cycle management, ensuring timely reimbursement and compliance with healthcare regulations. This role offers an energetic environment where your attention to detail and knowledge of medical coding guidelines will drive operational success and support quality patient care.

Duties

Review and assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes to medical records based on documented diagnoses and procedures.
Credentialing providers
Ensure accurate coding for inpatient and outpatient services following current medical coding guidelines.
Prepare and submit electronic health insurance claims using billing software and EMR/EHR systems to facilitate prompt reimbursement.
Verify insurance coverage, process third-party billing, and resolve claim denials through effective follow-up on unpaid or rejected claims.
Maintain comprehensive medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with coding standards and legal requirements.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation for proper coding and billing accuracy.
Stay current with updates in health insurance policies, ICD coding updates (including ICD-10), CPT codes, and medical terminology to ensure compliance.

Experience

Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a mental healthcare setting, preferably with EMR/EHR systems.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
Familiarity with health insurance claim processing, revenue cycle management, and electronic health record management.
Experience working with medical office workflows, medical records management, and insurance third-party billing processes.
Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately while adhering to coding guidelines for inpatient services.
Excellent attention to detail combined with active problem-solving skills to optimize billing accuracy and reduce claim denials.
Prior experience using billing software platforms and EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable.
