Full Job Description

Mount Mercy University seeks a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Business & Student Financial Services to oversee student receivables, billing operations, and key business functions at the Mount Mercy campus. This role provides leadership across student financial services, purchasing, contract management, and general accounting oversight while ensuring alignment with St. Ambrose University systems and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all student accounts operations, including billing, account adjustments, and payment plan administration
Oversee student receivables, collections, and student financial communications
Serve as Purchasing Coordinator, managing procurement workflows, vendor relationships, and Accounts Payable processes
Administer the Purchase Card Program, including reconciliation, compliance, and reporting
Maintain and manage campus contract inventory and support contract oversight processes
Provide review and oversight of accounting functions, including reconciliations and financial accuracy
Coordinate closely with St. Ambrose University finance and student accounts teams to maintain operational alignment across campuses
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and financial procedures

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field required
Minimum of four years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Experience in higher education financial operations preferred

Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent communication and customer service orientation
Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
Proficiency in financial systems, spreadsheets, and database tools
Understanding of university administrative and financial processes
