PROCESS SERVER – MARTIN PROCESS SERVING, LLC
Part Time (as-needed) **Eastern Iowa Only**
Martin Process Serving, LLC is a professional process serving and legal support company serving legal documents for law firms and collections agencies throughout the state of Iowa. Our operation is built on reliability, detailed documentation, situational awareness, and professional conduct in the field. We are looking for a Process Server to assist with service demands and increased route coverage in Eastern Iowa (specifically Cedar Rapids, Iowa City/Coralville/Davenport). Please do not apply if you are not able to consistently serve in these areas.
POSITION OVERVIEW
A Process Server supports field operations by executing lawful service of civil process and documenting each attempt with accuracy and professionalism. This position requires independent travel, in-person communication, and consistent follow-through on assigned cases. Work is performed primarily in the field in various weather and road conditions.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve civil and legal process in accordance with Iowa Rules of Civil Procedure
- Identify, verify, and confirm residential and commercial addresses prior to attempts
- Conduct service attempts in a professional, non-confrontational manner
- Complete required proof-of-service documentation and digital reporting
- Utilize GPS, photos, timestamps, and body-worn documentation as required
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with defendants and occupants
- Represent Martin Process Serving, LLC with professionalism and integrity at all times
WEATHER & FIELD REQUIREMENTS
- Able to drive safely during snow, ice, and reduced-visibility conditions
- Comfortable working outside in hot and cold temperatures
- Willing to conduct evening attempts due to limited daylight hours
- Must exercise sound judgment regarding property approach
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license
- Dependable vehicle and proof of insurance
- Smartphone capable of GPS and digital documentation
- Ability to remain calm and professional during unexpected and confrontational interactions with defendants and families.
- Strong awareness, respect for property boundaries, no confrontation mindset

COMPENSATION
- Per-serve pay, mileage, or route-rate depending on assignment location
- Flexible scheduling
- Approximately 10–20+ hours per week depending on case volume

Martin Process Serving, LLC requires all work to be carried out safely and professionally in compliance with state and federal law. Physical confrontation, pursuit, and aggressive conduct are strictly prohibited. The safety of the server, the public, and all parties involved is the operational priority. We will provide you with company-issued shirts, coats, and ID badges for professionalism and safety purposes.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR NOTICE:
This position is offered strictly as an independent contractor role. The Process Server is not an employee of Martin Process Serving, LLC. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, licensing, and compliance with applicable federal and state laws. No employment relationship is created by accepting assignments, and Martin Process Serving, LLC retains no control over the manner, method, or means by which services are performed beyond compliance requirements and legal standards.
