The Senior IT Sourcing Manager will be a leadership role within the Strategic Sourcing team, responsible for managing the Strategic Sourcing team, setting negotiation strategy across all categories of spend, and leading strategic sourcing and commercial management for Janus Henderson’s technology spend, with a focus on software, SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, telecoms, professional technology services, AI-enabled solutions, and other critical technology vendors. This role will act as a category subject-matter expert and management-level escalation point, partnering closely with Technology, Legal, Finance, Information Security, Data Privacy, Enterprise Vendor Risk Management, and business stakeholders to deliver commercial value while supporting strong governance, risk management, and operational resilience.
The role is intended to help move procurement from a primarily transactional function to a strategic, category-led capability. The successful candidate will own sourcing strategies for major technology categories, lead complex negotiations, improve spend visibility, manage renewal pipelines, and support the implementation of consistent sourcing and contracting standards across the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and lead negotiation strategy across all categories of spend, ensuring sourcing events and supplier negotiations are commercially disciplined, aligned to business priorities, and appropriately coordinated with Legal, Finance, Technology, and risk stakeholders.
- Develop and execute category strategies for technology and IT-related spend, including enterprise software, SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, telecoms, technology consulting, and emerging AI/ML solutions.
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activity, including market analysis, demand planning, supplier identification, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, bid evaluation, negotiations, award recommendations, and implementation support.
- Own and manage a forward-looking renewal pipeline for material IT contracts, identifying opportunities to consolidate suppliers, reduce duplicate spend, renegotiate pricing, improve commercial terms, and avoid unnecessary auto-renewals.
- Partner with Technology leadership and business owners to understand technology roadmaps, budget priorities, service requirements, and vendor dependencies.
- Negotiate complex commercial terms, including pricing, discounts, enterprise licensing models, consumption-based pricing, service credits, benchmarking, renewal caps, audit rights, and termination rights.
- Manage, coach, and develop the Strategic Sourcing team, including Sourcing Specialists and Sourcing Associates across all categories, helping to enhance team performance, negotiation capability, sourcing discipline, stakeholder management, and professional development.
- Work closely with Legal to support consistent contracting positions and appropriate escalation of key legal and regulatory issues, including liability, data protection, confidentiality, intellectual property, audit, outsourcing, resilience, and exit provisions.
- Coordinate with Information Security, Data Privacy, Enterprise Vendor Risk Management, Compliance, Business Continuity, and Architecture teams to ensure technology suppliers are reviewed and onboarded in accordance with applicable procurement, risk, and governance requirements.
- Support sourcing and contracting processes for higher-risk engagements, including vendors with access to Janus Henderson systems, personal data, confidential information, ICT services, AI/ML functionality, or critical business processes.
- Use spend data, contract data, and supplier performance information to identify savings opportunities, risk concentrations, and sourcing priorities.
- Track and report sourcing pipeline, savings delivery, avoided cost, contract risk improvements, cycle times, and stakeholder outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with key vendors and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted commercial advisor and escalation point for technology sourcing matters.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of procurement playbooks, templates, vendor management policies, procedures, governance standards, and continuous improvement initiatives that support a scalable global strategic sourcing model.
- Support oversight and effective use of global procurement, sourcing, vendor management, and contract management systems, including helping to drive process consistency, data quality, reporting discipline, and adoption across technology sourcing activity.
- Prepare and present clear reports, dashboards, and recommendations on sourcing pipeline, negotiation outcomes, savings achieved, avoided cost, vendor risks, and contract improvements to Procurement leadership and senior stakeholders.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
