Accounting Associate

Department: Finance & Accounting Reports To: Corporate Controller

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hrs/week

POSITION OVERVIEW

HŌM Solutions, Inc. is a leading provider of home improvement solutions serving customers across multiple states. Our two-person Accounting department operates at a high level of autonomy, and the Accounting Associate plays a critical role in supporting the Corporate Controller with the full scope of day-to-day financial operations.

This is not a clerical support role. The ideal candidate brings solid accounting fundamentals, sharp attention to detail, and the confidence to own their work with minimal supervision. You will work directly alongside the Controller — touching everything from AP and AR to month-end close and financial reporting — in a fast-moving company where your contributions are visible and meaningful.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accounts Payable & Receivable

Process and code vendor invoices; manage the full AP cycle including approvals, payments, and vendor communication
Generate and send customer invoices; monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
Apply customer payments and post AR transactions accurately in NetSuite
Research and resolve billing discrepancies with customers and vendors

General Ledger & Month-End Close

Record and post journal entries accurately and on schedule
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for month-end and year-end close
Assist the Controller with preparation of financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements

Reporting & Compliance

Assist with preparation of financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders
Ensure all transactions comply with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Support external audit and tax preparation processes by organizing documentation and schedules
Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as directed by the Controller

Systems & Records

Maintain accurate and organized financial records in NetSuite (primary accounting platform)
Ensure digital and physical document management meets audit-readiness standards
Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and workflow within the accounting function

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
Minimum 2 years of hands-on accounting experience (AP, AR, GL, reconciliations)
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
Proficiency with NetSuite or comparable ERP/accounting system
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data reconciliation)
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail with a commitment to clean books
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a small-team environment
Professional written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Experience in a multi-location or service-industry company
Exposure to full-cycle accounting in a lean or two-person department
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role operates within a lean, high-trust accounting environment. The Accounting Associate works closely with the Corporate Controller and interacts regularly with operations, purchasing, and leadership. A high degree of professional judgment and discretion is expected. Occasional extended hours may be required around month-end, year-end, or audit periods.
