DIRECTOR, PUBLIC WORKS - FULL TIME

Must possess Class "C" License from SC DHEC / CDL – or obtain within 6 months
Water Distribution Operator certifications are preferred and will be required long term
At least 4 years of Public Works Experience
SUMMARY:
The Public Works Director is responsible for the overall supervision of all personnel and operations in the Public Works Department which includes water, sewer, sanitation, and streets to ensure proper, safe, and effective daily activities. Performs various related duties such as planning daily work routines, inspecting work for compliance with established standards and specifications, maintaining records, and ensuring the repair and maintenance of equipment. Reports to the Town Administrator.
- Works directly with the Administrator to perform supervisory duties as instructing, reviewing, and planning work; coordinating activities, maintaining standards, allocating personnel; acting on employee problems; selecting new employees; and recommending transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, terminations, and salary increases.
- Ensures repair and maintenance of equipment by scheduling and/or performing related work. Supervises the preventative maintenance program and employee implementation of same; coordinates equipment repairs as needed. Purchases equipment and supplies and needed.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties including preparing fiscal budget for the Department, determining Departmental policies and procedures, and implementing programs.
- Receives, reviews, processes, files and/or submits a variety of documents and reports such as work orders, monthly vehicular maintenance reports, monthly budget report, and annual budget request. Many of these documents and/or reports are submitted via a computer system.
- Prepares, maintains and or processes various reports and records as required such as requisitions, time sheets, payroll reports, maintenance reports, attendance reports, fiscal budget proposal/report, electrical diagrams, etc.
- Works closely with employees from the SC Department of Transportation and Pickens Co. to coordinate and complete various projects.
- Supervises the monitoring of water supply and water tower and makes adjustments as necessary.
- Supervises the monitoring and maintenance of sewer pumps.
- Responsible for all monies allocated to the Public Works Department.
- Directs operation and maintenance activities of all lift stations; performs all tests for DHEC and EPA reporting.
- Maintains all records for DHEC as it pertains to water and sewage.
- Responsible for monitoring all systems to prevent interruption of operations pertaining to water, sewer, sanitation, and street departments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $64,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
