As a Field Service Technician, you will learn to service and support industrial production equipment. You will build lifelong relationships with our customers, suppliers, and employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of various mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic sub-systems within a thin film vacuum coating system produced by Quantum or other manufacturers, both at customer site (optical laboratory) and internally.
- Remote support of customers’ equipment and processes.
- Monitor production and testing processes in an optical lab.
- Serve as liaison between customer and sales and service regarding all technical issues, including assessing customer needs for maintenance, spare parts, modernization, and improvement of processes and procedures.
- Travel within US, and possible travel out of the country (less than 10% of total travel). Travel can often occur at short notice, but for a limited time (14 days or less). Travel is typically 3-5 days at a time. Sometimes over the weekend.
- Documentation of experiments and summaries of results.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience with mechanical, electrical/electronic, pneumatic systems in any industry (industrial, automotive, etc.), 5 years preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge. Automotive, industrial machine maintenance and troubleshooting. 3 years experience required.
- Electrical experience. Basic, 24 V(AC/DC), 480VAC. Able to read schematics. 3 years experience required.
- Ability to read/understand electrical/pneumatic schematics.
- Experience sourcing parts preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal directly with customers.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to use Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Eager to learn and provide a quality service.
- Able to work as a contributing member of a team.
- Able to prioritize tasks to meet critical deadlines with little supervision.

- Prior knowledge/experience preferred but not required in: vacuum coating, PLC, and control systems.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record will be required.
- We do not require a college degree for this position.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs. occasionally
- Perform work while kneeling, bending or stooping.
