About RVVE
Rogue Valley Veterinary Emergency is a privately owned emergency hospital providing 24 hour care to Southern Oregon and Northern California. Services include emergency triage and stabilization, critical care and ICU monitoring, emergency surgery, transfusion medicine, toxicology treatment, digital radiography, and in-house diagnostics. AI-assisted charting reduces documentation burden so time stays focused on patient care. Clinical decisions are made by the people in the building.
Schedule
3 × 13-hour shifts per week on a rotating schedule that includes weekends and overnights. The clinic operates Friday through Monday, 24 hours. Schedules are posted well in advance. No mandatory overtime.
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming emergencies and obtain focused patient histories
- Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture across peripheral and central locations
- Collect blood and samples; run in-house diagnostics including Tier 1 and Tier 2 tests
- Assist with stabilization: fluid therapy setup, oxygen support, wound management
- Place and manage nasogastric (NG) tubes for nutritional support and gastric decompression
- Monitor patients on fluids, medications, and post-surgical recovery
- Position and acquire digital radiographs per radiation safety protocols
- Prepare patients for surgery; assist with anesthetic induction and recovery
- Maintain accurate records using AI-assisted charting tools
- Communicate with clients during emergency situations with clarity and professionalism
Technicians work at the top of their demonstrated skill level. If you’re trained to place a catheter, you place it. Autonomy is the default; supervision is available when needed.
Growth path
Tech 1 ($20.00/hr) → Tech 2 ($22.00/hr):
Proficiency handling simple patients — learning straight forward venipuncture, monitoring equipment, with emphasis on accurate documentation and reliable cleaning upkeep.
Tech 2 ($22.00/hr) → Tech 3 ($24.00/hr):
Consistent proficiency in core ER skills — catheter placement, sample collection, radiographic positioning, patient monitoring. Internal skills assessment required.
Tech 3 ($24.00/hr) → Tech 4 ($26.00/hr):
Advanced skills including anesthesia support, complex wound management, and mentoring. Assessment required.
CVT Track – Earn More While You Learn
We actively support Veterinary Technicians who want to become Certified Veterinary Technicians.
- + $3.00/hr, immediate increase upon verified enrollment in an accredited CVT program
- Real-time skill development aligned with CVT competencies
- Hands-on experience in emergency and critical care
- Mentorship from experienced CVTs and veterinarians
Upon licensure:
- Transition to CVT pay scale ($26.00 – $34.00 base)
- Increased shift differentials (+$3 / +$6 / +$9)
- Placement based on experience and demonstrated skill level—not automatically entry-level

Qualifications
Required:
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinical setting (GP, ER, specialty, or shelter)
- Comfort with animal restraint, sample collection, and assisting in procedures
- Ability to remain composed in a high-acuity emergency environment
- Reliable and team-oriented
Preferred:
- Emergency or urgent care experience
- IV catheter placement and basic monitoring skills
- RECOVER CPR certification
- Current CVT program enrollment (qualifies for +$3.00/hr student premium immediately upon verification)
Compensation & benefits
- Tiered base pay $20.00–$26.00/hr with skill-based advancement milestones
- Shift differentials: +$2 weekend | +$3 weekday overnight | +$5 weekend overnight
- Spanish-speaking premium: +$1.50/hr | CVT student premium: +$3.00/hr
