Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper with strong background in property management accounting to provide finanical oversight for a growing multi family portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with at least one property management accounting platform, preferably Yardi, but App Folio, Esite, or and comparable platform. Solid understanding of how property level transactions flow through the general ledger and financial statements.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple properties using accounting software such as Yardi, App Folio, or Esite or similar systems.
Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and balance sheets regularly to ensure data integrity.
Prepare journal entries, account analysis, and double-entry bookkeeping entries following GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards.
Conduct account reconciliation activities including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
Generate detailed financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for management review.
Monitor daily and monthly financial transactions for accuracy and proper coding
Review and maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
Review tenant ledgers, deposits, utility charges, credits, adjustments, and other resident related transactions
Assist with monthly close procedures
Review budget versus actual and property level financial reports
Prepare organized financial information and supporting schedules for accountant or CPA
Stong understanding of general ledger, accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, trial balances, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
Stong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies
Strong excel

Requirements

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within property management or real estate environments.
Strong proficiency with accounting software such as Yardi Breeze, Yardi Voyager, Esite, or other software comparable systems.
Solid understanding of accounting principles including debits & credits, journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping.
Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation, and financial report writing.
Excellent skills in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), account analysis, and technical accounting concepts.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple accounts efficiently.

This position will work closely with the operational management and our outside accountant or CPA. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate day to day accounting records, identifying and correcting issues, and ensuring that our accounting system contains reliable information so that accurate financial reports can be produced.

We are looking for someone who does more than data entry. We need an experienced professional who understands how transactions affect the general ledger and financial statements and who can recognize when something does not look right.

Pay: $26.14 - $31.48 per hour
