Founded by Richard and Audrey Tebbs, Star began as the Anita Lynn Home in 1970 with the inspired vision to help each person supported to live a fulfilling life. Star is committed to ensuring that every adult, whether at a facility or in the community, is engaged in a meaningful day as they determine it, and each person has the opportunity to pursue a path to competitive integrated employment. Star offers a full range of services including: adult residential services provided in 11 homes to 50+ people; Employment and Meaningful Day Services for approximately 85 people; and Star’s Equestrian Center and Therapeutic Farm serving 50+ children and adults weekly through therapeutic and recreational riding activities with disabled and abled riders.

The Trainer/Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for the overall training program of Star. This position will update, maintain, and deliver new hire curricula, as well as address the ongoing learning and development needs for the organization and design, development, and implement new training curricula to assure all staff have the knowledge to perform the job and fulfill Star’s mission. The Trainer/Staff Development Coordinator contributes to the accomplishment of human resources practices and objectives specifically in the area of training, curriculum development and staff development that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or related field. Minimum one-year experience in Human Resources, training and development, or Education. Experience training and curriculum development highly preferred. DDA knowledge a plus. Any acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.

Must possess a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements of the insurance carrier. This position requires the availability for flexible work schedules. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and the ability to speak and write proficiently in English is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

Works to support and exemplify the values, vision and mission of Star Community.
Assess the needs for training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance.
Conducts ongoing environmental scan of potential learning gaps for the organization and collaborates with directors to design and implement trainings that meet all learning needs to enhance on-the-job effectiveness.
Lead the design, development, creation, implementation, and evaluation of multiple types of learning solutions.
Research curriculum actively and remain up to date on developments and topics.
Seek and gather information from management, employees and other departments regarding the effectiveness of completed training courses and proactively identify topics to be addressed or areas in need of additional instruction.
Prepare materials needed and conduct training for staff or coordinate and schedule trainers.
Create and maintain training calendar.
Track staff compliance with attending and completing trainings. Notify Staff and supervisors of required training.
Assist with recruitment records and onboarding of new employees.
Will assist the director with human resources functions as needed.
Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office to include answering phone, filing, data entry, scheduling meetings, etc as needed.
Will successfully complete in-service requirements and meet renewal schedules as well as attend related trainings as necessary.
Will perform other duties as assigned.
