Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manufacturing Supervisor to lead daily operations within our Assembly Department. This position is responsible for ensuring production operates safely, efficiently, and on schedule while meeting quality and productivity goals. The Assembly Supervisor provides hands-on leadership, develops employees, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and supports a positive team environment. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, coach, and develop employees to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and operational goals
- Schedule and assign personnel based on production requirements, staffing levels, and employee strengths
- Monitor production performance, labor efficiencies, quality metrics, and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and support ongoing training and development
- Assess equipment capacity, material availability, and staffing needs to optimize production output
- Ensures compliance with company policies, safety regulations, quality standards, and work instructions
- Identify and resolve production, equipment, staffing, and workflow issues to maintain efficient operations
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, Finance, Quality, and other departments to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives
- Recommend and implement improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment utilization, product quality, and workplace safety
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and departmental documentation
- Support Environmental Management System (EMS) and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and participate in continuous improvement activities
- Participate in management meetings to review production results, operational priorities, and improvement opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Shift is 8 hours. Overtime may be required based on production schedules and business needs. Employees receive two 10-minute breaks per shift and one 20-minute meal break. Employees get paid the entire time they are clocked in and do not clock out for breaks, if taken on campus.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1–3 years of manufacturing supervisory or related leadership experience preferred
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and labor laws
Strong leadership, coaching, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, time management, and problem-solving abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other manufacturing information systems
- Ability to make sound decisions, prioritize work, and manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments
- Availability to support off-shift operations as needed
- Ability to deliver business results independently and through team leadershipPhysical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, use hands, talk, and hear throughout the workday
- Must be able to lift and carry parts, boxes, and materials weighing up to 40.0 pounds and manually move bumper assemblies weighing from 6.7 to 63.5 pounds
- Ability to move throughout the manufacturing facility to supervise operations and support employees
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while responding to changing production demands
- Ability to assemble, inspect, and support production operations using hand tools, powered nut runners, rubber mallets, and other assembly equipment as needed
- Ability to operate or assist with material-handling devices, including manipulators, hoists, racks, and other production equipment
- Ability to sit for at a desk/computer
Work Environment:
- The work environment is representative of conditions typical for a manufacturing facility. Guardian West is not a climate-controlled facility. Safety precautions must always be followed to reduce exposure to hazards
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, odors, fumes, airborne particles, and elevated noise levels
- Frequent interaction with production employees and manufacturing equipment
- Overtime and off-shift support may be required based on operational needs
