Full Job Description

Position Overview
Meyer Capel, A Professional Corporation, is seeking a professional legal assistant to support attorneys in our Champaign office in the areas of civil litigation and labor & employment law. Prior law office or comparable experience is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

Support attorneys in litigation and labor & employment matters by preparing, formatting, proofreading, serving, and filing pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
Manage court filings and deadlines by calculating, calendaring, and tracking important dates while ensuring compliance with court rules, e-filing procedures, and service requirements.
Organize and maintain case materials including pleadings, exhibits, correspondence, discovery documents, research files, and other paper or electronic records.
Coordinate communications, meetings, and logistics with attorneys, clients, courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and vendors, including scheduling depositions, conferences, and travel arrangements.
Assist with new matters and administrative workflows by supporting conflict checks, engagement letters, attorney calendars, expense reports, invoices, and internal litigation database updates.

Notary Requirement
If the selected candidate is not already a notary public, they will be expected to cooperate with the firm in applying for a notary license.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected pay range for individuals with entry-level to three years of experience is $21.00 to $23.00 per hour.
